Hello guys and we come into the evolutions fight of fossil pokemon. Five new fossil pokemon make an entry the og flying dragon and the galarian set including all our base competitors in evolved form. So how does this go. Is cradily way better than lileep? Can carracosta make an impact or fall like tirtouga? Will people boot aurorus early too? Can galarian fossils stand the fight? Will there be another gen 1 winner? Let’s see the resulsts..
you all know what pokedex fillers would do when creating a custom pokemon for youu when it’s fossil??
yes he keeps one type as rock and the galarian ones are completely not a resemblance to fossil pokemon. One by one will go out with least memorable to atleast memorable…
the galar fossils were a cool idea. i just don’t think the execution worked well. it would’ve been great if the final result was more practical. arctovish is the biggest offender with the head facing the wrong way. while yes, very funny, it makes no sense
@littu Can we get a poll or something with their unmixed bodies with what these pokemon actually would have looked like, and which of those is the best?
Arctoness would have been cool like a prehistoric lapras. Even velozolt or dracodrill stegasaurus are cool to see. I get their mixed up concept but it would have been great to have the correct ones available too.
The Galar fossils all get a pass because the in-universe lore is they were incorrectly ressurected by an incompetent scientist, therby creating literal abominations.
To me that’s more interesting than something like Bastiodon. But “old, older, oldest” always seems to win on e4.
Armaldo & Bastiodon are terrible…but the Galarian screwups are just that bit worse (even though the concept is great). None of the constituent parts look like good designs to begin with.
I am going to take the opportunity to remind everyone that the galarian fossils are an attempt to reference mistakes in early paleontology, where some dinosaurs like Apatosaurus ended up just being the wrong head on a different skeleton
The galarian fossils are great and I dislike the hate they get. That said, fuck arctovish
Also, the galarian fossils fulfill the headcanon that rock types in early fossils are maybe that the Pokémon was rock type, but also maybe because the restoration process wasn’t amazing and the rock typing is an artifact of restoration. But England (galar) is well known for paleontologists and might be better at the restoration.
Calling Armaldo a design failure while simultaneously praising these cursed gen 8 abominations is the very definition of a hot take in my book.
Also, Cradily, Carracosta and Bastiodon are all pretty chill too, I truly don’t get it.
Surprised you didn’t shit on Kabutops and Aerodactyl while you’re at it lol
Fear not my goofy shrimp friend, for you won’t see my vote until the last round. But looks like you ain’t got a chance to make it that far with such a dedicated little Anti-Armaldo club around
I did say the concept of them being chimeras referencing the Bone Wars of early palaeontology is great…but if you’re doing a Dromaeosaurid, Noasaurid (?), Elasmosaur (?) and a Dunkleosteus, then they could surely do better than the designs we see parts of?!
