Every Single Cyndaquil Master Set

I’ve always been a big fan of Cyndaquils, I even own the life sized PC Cyndaquil plush. However about 6 months ago in Nov 2024 I decided to begin trying to collect every single Cyndaquil. This includes every language, promo, serial variant, holo variant, and stamp variant.

I’ve linked a Google Spreadsheet in which I have my obtained Cyndas checked off. Currently I’m still working on figuring out correct names for some of the Asian languages as I currently have Korean and Chinese under the English set names. I also need to change non-English and Japanese release dates as I have most set to English or Japanese.

Also As of today June 1st, 2025 I have 61 unique Cyndaquils and 3 graded Cyndaquils! I have 276 unique Cyndaquils logged in the spreadsheet and will continue to change stuff as I learn new things and new sets come out. Most recently I’ve been adding Hotwind Arena/Destined Rivals to the list. Hope you all enjoy!

Welcome, and good luck on your collection journey! Look forward to updates here.

As for the spreadsheet, as far as I know, the Japanese e-Starter Deck Cyndaquil #14 has not had an unlimited version surface yet, so I think it’s assumed it doesn’t exist.

The unlimited Japanese L1 reverse holo also doesn’t exist. The only unlimited L1 cards known to exist are the three Johto starters in non-holo version.

@Typhlosion_Collector might also have a master list that you can cross-check against.

Ooo, thank you for the info, I’ll make some updates to the sheet! Also I’m not the most familiar with some terminology yet; what does L1 stand for? Is it a variation of JP unlimited or just a shorter name for JP unlimited?

Oops, sorry. L1 is the Japanese SoulSilver Collection set. The L1 shorthand comes from the set symbol.

Also, just as a heads-up, in case you weren’t aware, the unlimited e-Starter Deck Cyndaquil and the unlimited L1 Cyndaquil are pretty hard to come by, so you might want to set up alerts for those if you haven’t already. (And they might be pretty expensive if you do happen to find them)

Ah that makes sense, similar to modern sets being abreviated to what the set symbol says. And any clue on estimate prices on the unlimited L1 or or e-Starter Deck Cyndaquils? I wanna make sure I have more than enough the next time one pops up. Or would that be more of @Typhlosion_Collector’s field of knowledge?

Lastly do you mean eBay reminders?

Good luck with your collection! A few things I noticed: The Dreams Come True Collection is Traditional Chinese, not Simplified. For Time Gazer you also seem to be missing the Traditional Chinese version and for Heat Wave Arena (or Presence of Champions in that case) the Thai and Indonesian versions are missing (although Thai will only release in about two weeks).

Hey there! I’m also working on a Cyndaquil master collection! Here’s my spreadsheet incase that helps: Spreadsheet I’m still working out some of the more recent S Chinese and T Chinese sets though and haven’t added the very latest Ethan’s Cyndaquil cards either. Best of luck with your collection!

Good catch with the The Dreams Come True Collection! Sleep deprivation is a wild thing. I’ve just updated it and the others you mentioned. I know heatwave is coming out in several languages but have been using eBay and Google to see which languages it pops up as

Thank you @mrbubbles, I appreciate it! Also I’ve been getting several tips already so I’d definitely say I’m getting some help

Wow you have ALOT of Cyndaquils. Thats really impressive. The layout of the sheet is really smart, makes it easier to find specific languages. Also For some of the European languages such as French and Italian, where did you find most of your’s? eBay has some but not a ton

Not the one you responded to, but assuming you’re not in Europe yourself, there are two more options. One is Cardtrader which will usually have direct shipping to you and even the ability to combine several orders into one shipment with CT Zero, the other option you probably will need for the last remaining cards is to get the help of someone in Europe to buy the cards on Cardmarket for you.

Ya, I’m in the US so getting anything in is a nightmare rn. I struggled getting any Chinese cards bc of the politics going on making many sellers increase their prices to hundreds of dollars or just stop selling.

And thank you for the info, I’ll take a look at both of those sites :+1:

Thanks! Yes as @Ratequaza mentioned Cardmarket is the best place for foreign language cards here in Europe anyway, although I did get some on eBay. Drop me a message if you want me to help get some from cardmarket though

Ebay reminders or just daily Mercari Japan searches, if you use middleman services.

I think @mthursty might be able to help out with pricing for the unlimited e-Starter Deck Cyndaquil and @Frosty.Puppy with the unlimited L1 Cyndaquil?

(Sorry if you two aren’t the right ones to ping. I think mthursty is always on the lookout for unlimited E1, and Frosty.Puppy is the last one that I can remember that showed an unlimited L1 pickup in the recent purchase thread—though there might be another one I can’t quite recall)

For both E1 & L1 it’s really a gamble if the seller knows what they have or not. Typically in the Western markets, the sellers will know because they have brought them over. Japan is very much catching onto these cards now though and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to find them under valued however, it can happen.

I’d give you a ball park value of a couple to a few hundred you’d probably have to pay. Realistically it depends on what someone lists one at though, as they are so rare and niche it’s first come, first served. I’d recommend if you want it and you can afford it, buy it because you don’t know when you’ll next see one available. Hope that helps.

Yes that absolutely helps! Thank you @Frosty.Puppy! Having funds set aside for them is what I intend on doing which a few hundred is within my current budget.

I had a similar experience with the German Surprise Calendar Cyndaquil back in January. I saw one pop up, then it disappeared. I was devastated until I found 23/24 surprise calendar cards for 500ish. I needed them for my master set+ of HGSS base. A month or so later I managed to find another Cyndaquil pop up on German eBay and bought it for $5

I’ll make sure it DM you when I’m ready to :+1:

Here’s a link to my master set list if you wanted to cross reference. I used yours including others to help myself make it. The asian prints are probably all wacky still though

One thing I noticed: You have to separate Spanish into European Spanish and Latin American Spanish, since starting with Journey Together the latter was added to the TCG.
