Pokemon really doesn’t have buyouts. MtG and Yu-Gi-Oh! do but people actually play those games so there’s always a huge shift in demand for one card or another. The supply of a given card can disappear in an hour.
Just because an individual has accrued a given card over time doesn’t mean it was bought out, neither does the supply of a card rising gradually over time.
It would be too expensive to try and buy out high end product and you physically couldn’t do it on graded cards which have such low populations.
As has been said you would need high demand for the cards even at a higher price point. Therefore you could really only do it with playable cards or a new release which wouldn’t happen nowadays save some exclusive releases e.g. Art Academy Promos.
There has been a couple cases back in 2012(?) where some prominent tcg player managed to figure out the meta after rotation and acquire/“buy out” all available Tropical Beaches and Yanmega/Magnezone Primes. After rotation prices started rising and they started unloading. IIRC prices were 5x-10x at the highest. Even then it’s probably more about figuring meta and “it” cards than buying out the stock.
Fortunately that’s not how I see it. If I did, I’d have to quit at 12 lol.
I’ve never sold one out of my personal collection so #13 will be out and my next one will be #14.
For me, I’m comfortable with that;)
Haha I was only kidding. But a way to be doubly sure that the next is definitely #14 and not #13 over again just have to be sure to buy one quickly before you sell the other!
