Welcome to e4, ArtisticAva!
I would say infuriating lol.
Like purposely baiting those of us that enjoy sets.
It’s almost like they’re fantasy/fictional characters!
noooo
last call to get your votes in (or do another run through to make sure you voted on everything you like)
polls end in about 6.5 hours
As far as the exit poll asking which pokemon had the best cards, you could argue Squirtle has the best since it had 3/5 top 5, but Bulbasaur had 5/10 top 10. It’s a debate of being top heavy or consistent.
Poll Results:
I think statistically, I have to give the edge to Bulbasaur (I voted for Squirtle FTR)
- Here is the top 10 of each, and you can see Bulbsaur actually had a 3 way tie for its 10th place, which means it has more cards in that range
Ultimately, they were pretty close, with Charmander’s 10th place card only being a couple votes behind the other two with 37 votes - 31st place overall
While which is the best is up for debate, what is not in question is which has the worst - Charmander with 9 cards having only 10 or less votes (Bulbasaur had 3 and Squirtle had 1)
Even if you expand the bottom end of popularity, Charmander continues to occupy the majority of slots with 27 cards with 20 or less votes, nearly 3x as many as the next - Bulbasaur who has 10 and Squirtle who has 9
The Sugimori ones are way too high.
Erika’s Bulbasaur and the Squirtle with the flowers.
How many more Charmander cards are there than the other 2 though? Although I guess there were quite a few Charizard that didn’t need Charmander so maybe the disparity isn’t that great.
34 - Bulbasaur
48 - Charmander
34 - Squirtle
(quick count)
Some very, very weird results. The snap trio and vending trio were both all over the place. I don’t quite understand why snap bulba was on top while the two others were near the bottom, but i especially don’t understand how vending bulba was in top 5 but squirtle and charmander were so low, there were stock art ones placed higher than them! Would also have expected the McDonald’s charmander and the latest ar trio to place even higher but they at least were all near the top 10
E4’s got some weird opinions Jopo. According to E4,
>by DOUBLE the votes, nearly 20 votes
This has 44 votes
Making it significantly >
and many, many othersand
> among many other thingsThat said, all the best basically made it to the top… so
I also want to add to your great examples that the stock art squirtle also got almost double the votes compared to this beautiful resting squirtle Sui art
this is just a nice artwork. nothing too impressive, but the expression and proportions are perfection. it’s fun and cute. nothing disagreeable about it imo. not surprised so many people gave it a like
whereas this charmander’s head looks weird
(i don’t have anything bad to say about the ivysaur lol)
His head only looks weird at first glance, then you realize its proportions are correct and lifelike. He’s turning his head in a way that because of the camera angle makes it look like it is making both his midsection and neck too thick. But then you realize we all look like that if we had odd/back lighting, a low camera angle, and were turned that way (pelvis locked in place, turning midsection nearly 180 degrees).
But moreover, charmander like many pokemon are kinda nubby, short arms, short legs. It’s actually brilliant how accurate he made it look, seeing as how he’d turn this way more like a toddler who would have stressed and limited ability of articulation. It’s modeled just as a baby sitting down would turn to look at something slightly behind it. And that’s not even mentioning the amazing composition, the flame superimposing the volcano, and the lighting/color/atmosphere. Frickin’ perfection.
Also I don’t understand people’s obsession with this, needing to look conventional at all times.
Saitou’s is typical Saitou. Not bad, sure. But
The watercolour stock arts will always do well, that is most people’s first impression of Pokemon
The squirtle in question is meiji promo from adv era and in english regular common from ex team aqua vs magma, i find it hard to believe it was actually an entry point for a lot of people
I was referring more to the original era stock arts, that’s what a lot of people like. Simple and nostalgic
