With all brackets complete, the E4 Gen 7 tournament has officially concluded! It’s crazy to think it’s only been a little over a year since I started running these with Gen 3. It can be a lot of work at times, but the heated battles, camaraderie and tournament lore that comes makes it all worthwhile.
That said, we have been moving at a breakneck pace to attempt to catch up to the current generation, and I believe some rest is in order. Both myself and a few other participants have expressed needing a break, as scheduling matches and the pressure of battling can take its toll. As such, I’ve made the decision to wait until January 2026 before opening sign ups for Generation 8.
In addition, the VGC bracket will be moving to a Swiss format, in line with how official VGC tournaments are run. Singles will still remain double elimination for the time being.
I’ll also start polling people so we can decide on the VGC format for Gen 8.

- VGC 2022 (double restricted legendaries)
- VGC 2021 (no restricted legendaries)

The results are in and it looks like we’ll be going with VGC 2021 (no restricted legendaries) for Gen 8!

Btw any chance instead of just waiting for gen 8 we can get a smaller selim LGPE OU only tour? Would be a cool little thing that idt would cause much strain.

I’ve already mentioned above that I need a break from organizing tournaments until the next year. I probably will not run LGPE OU until we have caught up to the current generation but would run one afterwards.
If you or someone else would like to host a bracket for that format in the interim, feel free to do so!

Wow, time flies! It’s almost time for sign ups for Gen 8! Hope everyone had a nice break from competition (I know I did). Keep an eye out in the first week of January for the new thread!
