A huge thanks to @Tryson21 for taking time of their busy schedule to provide me some valuable tips. The unfortunate thing about tips is that my execution was lacking and I still need a lot more experience to understand matchups. However, atleast I was confident that my team could fight well against Wise and was looking forward to the game, since I felt I had a chance. But @wisewailmer is an amazing player and I need to get gud to match up well and take some games.
I had fun teambuilding and coming up with strats, unfortunately I also need to adapt well. Hope to someday get better to take some games off good players. Maybe when gen 10 rolls out

You still got little cup so you aren’t out of it yet!
I think you played to the best of your ability, just need a little more game sense to predict how your opponent is going to respond when you are pressuring them. Wailmer responded optimally to your threats in trick room with protects, but those can also be played around too.
An example would be on turn 3 of game 2: your Azumarill was in trick room against his politoed and kingdra. Azumarill would move first under trick room and threaten the KO with play rough on his kingdra. Wailmer knew his kingdra was the main target so he protected and used that to be able to get a scald off with politoed, burning your azumarill. Had you expected this play, you could have used play rough on the politoed instead, KO’ing it and then leaving the kingdra in an even worse position the next turn.
These are the sort of plays that will separate VGC players. There are a lot more options and mind games available at any given time compared to singles (imo), so you need to play with the knowledge of not just what is the optimal play, but rather what is the best play based on how you feel your opponent will respond.

That was a lot of fun to play even if I come up well short. I’m finding CHALK actually has a fair few issues with bulky waters, let alone two of them.
You deserve that King Slayer badge for sure. I’ll be back after my lower bracket run lol.

I had a ton of fun playing you. Matches felt like they went super fast. I’ve loved using suicune esp in gen 6. It’s pretty good in gen 8 although palkia and kyogre are better @wisewailmer gave me a last minute nudge to switch away from my chalk variant right before I sent in my team.
To be fair I did get the badge from beating ddk but who knows maybe I’ll have to give one out myself next gen. I await your return in the finals

Hi just had my match with bule.
Through some pushing by @ddk i went out of my comfort zone and used a hyper offence team.
I managed to win vs @bule 2 - 0 but it was super close both games
