Hey all!
I wanted to put together a quick tutorial on how to find the right format on showdown, how to submit your paste, and other general FAQ’s. If there is something here that I have NOT covered and you have questions about @me and I’ll do my best to answer your question!
Finding the format:
On showdown, when you go into your team builder the correct format can be found hidden away on the lower right hand side of the drop down menu here:
We are using VGC 2009.
Building your team:
The builder is a little tricky, but you’ll be allowed to use pick six pokemon in total for this format. (Please note, rotom forms are banned this format).
When you go to validate the builder will yell at you that you can only select 4 pokemon for this event. This is technically true for when you go to play you’ll only be able to select four, but I will cover this later. For now build your team of six.
Once you’ve built your team scroll down to the bottom of the builder and select "Upload to PokePaste (Open Team Sheet).
From here you can copy and paste your team in the CORRECT submission format for the public (your competitors) to view. This will remove the all important EV’s that are the core secret to your team, but give both you and your opponent a chance to counter pick each other for the best match possible.
A correct open team sheet PokePaste should look and read like this: Untitled PokePaste
Battling in tournament:
Since Showdown is a little buggy you’ll have to modify your team a bit each time you play.
As you can’t bring six pokemon for play under the VGC 2009 rules you’ll have to pick 4 pokemon instead and load that as your team. The best way to do this is take your created team on showdown, copy it a few times (so you always have your core six) and then just delete two pokemon each time you want to play.
Important to note: the order of the pokemon in the builder will be reflected as your leads. So slot 1 and 2 need to be correct for your leads.
By the end of your sets, it should look something like this:
Once you have finished your tournament team, please submit them to @ddk who will hold them and release them all at the same time so nobody should be counter building around another player(s).
PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR TEAM BY SEPTEMBER 9TH, 2024!
I hope this helps to answer some of the questions that are currently buzzing around about the format. If there are additional questions let me know!
