I’ve been a bit busy so not able to engage with this thread as much as I’d like. But WOW everyone’s submissions are looking so good! The voting is going to be so TOUGH!
@cyberurchin as always; fresh and positively effortless!!
@mrbubbles not the spooky tulip field! it’s giving Midsommer x Ringu x Pokemon! Plus I love r/foundpaper !!
@ayoveer I’ve caught myself thinking about slowpoke a lot. Conceptually v strong. I love how raw in materiality it is! I could see this being a whole guerrilla style series.
@pikachutcg Leila is really talented! Espresso Eevee is so unencumbered and fun!
@HumanForScale add me to the poster order please!
@decoypalmette You’re color palettes and compositions are always super unique & lovely You’re truly a hex maniac with texture!
@niece Ariados looks like it could be a mixed media collage. The push and pull of spacial elements is so strong it’s trippy!
@veks Metapod is so graphic! It’s exactly the aesthetic I love on a card! Strong and legible from afar!
@bbobrob I love how painterly you make 8 bit look! The reflection and light on the water is beautiful!
@Dyl the ephemerality of the Rowlet really speaks to me. All that work and, presumably, gone after the documentation. Where records become the only example of an object or event.
@BANKS I’d never heard of this fan theory! Why do the icebergs gotta be so dark?! Love a crossover!
@slowqueen woahpoke got into the golden teachers! Save me some!
<3
Thank you so much for the kind words, tediorso! Recycled Rowlet was, in fact, recycled - never to be seen or recreated in that exact orientation again, gone like a fleeting owl in the night.
sorry I dont think woahpoke left enough for anyone else
Seeing everyone’s submissions is absolutely awe-inspiring! Everyone has completely knocked it out of the part this year with their fierce competition.
That being said, it’s time to toss my art in the ring as well!
Floaroma Meadow

I’ve been absolutely in love with stadium cards from their inception, and the introduction of full art stadiums has been wonderful to see in the TCG. I’m a competitive player as well, and seeing all of the beautiful cards getting played is a joy in itself. This year, I wanted to challenge myself to encompass the feeling that stadiums have for me with an illustration of one of my favorite in-game locations, Floaroma Meadow. I’ve included several little easter eggs in this one, but I’ll leave it at that for now for those of you that want to find them yourselves.
My Poliwhirl submission for the child like drawing. I shall name it ’ Dizzy stomach & Dizzy mind ’ .
Amazing art from the community!! Love the Floaroma Meadow above by Citriina!!!
All the artwork so far is mindbogglingly good and I swear this contest ages like fine wine with regards to the quality of the submissions each year.
Just wanted to note we have only a few days left so get ready to turn in soon if you haven’t already!
Been very busy so we’re a bit behind on the little things like the submission gallery for post 2 so I plan on getting to that tonight.
@tediorso Thanks for the kind words! I spent a good chunk of time on the lighting and reflections, so I’m happy they are being appreciated! Hope to see your submissions soon
@slowqueen WHOApoke immediately reminded me of the Fuzzies level in Yoshi’s Island. Hopefully some will know what I’m talking about!
The Eightfold Convergence
Category: Recreation
Here’s my recreation artwork featuring some of my favorite Pokémon: Spiky-Eared Pichu, Snorlax (from Pokémon Sleep), Handstand Gengar (from Sabrina’s episode in Season 1 of pokemon), Halloween Mimikyu imagined as a Shiny, Shiny Mega Sableye and of course Voltorb. I’ve combined the Pokémon mandala with geometric fractals I made of this image.
I’ll get to appreciating everyone’s incredible works soon, but for now, I hope you enjoy this one!
Haven’t forgotten about this contest! Hoping I can finish mine before midnight!
A little behind .
@tediorso . Thank you for your kind comments.
@BANKS - This is deep and dark yet perfectly captures the spirit of the Pokémon
@slowqueen . I love how bright and cheerful your original piece is.
@citriina Just beautiful use of the light and composition. I loved looking for the Easter eggs.
@veks Child is such a great category because it gives us really fun pieces like this.
@Caterqu Very creative . Perfect recreation!
@KantoHustle . This is really amazing. Now that’s a kaleidoscope! Great color and symmetry. I looked at this a long time.
Actually not sure I’m going to have submissions ready this year, unfortunately. The pieces I’ve seen thus far have been incredible and I’m absolutely thoroughly enjoying this year’s contest, as always!

A loose recreation of Arita’s famous base set Charizard, with several Sugimori depictions as additional inspiration (most noteworthy the 1997 carddass). The elongated middle claws on it’s feet are directly taken from Pocket Monsters Red. As a little extra I also made a custom sprite within the same limitations as the Game Boy games. If it looks authentic or not is debatable, but I had a lot of fun creating it.

A clash of the Dragons! Who would win? Image composition and backgrounds were never really my strenght, so that was some decent practice.
Very impressive entrys so far, hopefully we can see even more before the deadline.
edit: Gave the artworks proper titles.
@Corylus . Some wonderful entries. Your backgrounds are good. Soft and unobtrusive not to distract from the great emotion shown in your Pokemon. I just have to believe Baxcalibar is going come back with a massive freeze on Dragonite.

If I get a spot, I need to use the credit name Sirius Starr, but it was fun! Could’ve done better, but hey.
Made some minor edits before midnight!
This is very cute!

Updating with a scan instead of a picture.
This is done on paper with acrylic paint. I was always bummed that Pokemon’s Van Gogh collab didnt include his most famous painting, so I tried it myself. Hope you enjoy it.
I am supposed to have one more entry but I’m not yet sure I can get to it tomorrow.
