Hi,
I’m actually not “done” with mine, I am still polishing and finalizing minor details, but the due date is in less than 20 minutes. I’ll continue to work on it before I post elsewhere online 
. I do have watermarks on my art, as I have had people steal art/repost/claim as theirs etc. Thank you for understanding.

All contestants with 1 or more subs are REQUIRED to do so. PLEASE do not disqualify yourselves by not voting for your fellow contestants, as this gives them unfair disadvantage, which we cannot allow. It would be remarkably sad to see a single piece of work not be included, so please don’t forget.

Ok everyone, scratch the ballot for now. After taking in some new info and criticism, we want to allow a day to cool off and figure out the best way to declare winners.
This is a process in the making, a learning experience for the best way to do such a thing on E4. It is the first time doing something so big, and we want everyone to be happy about involvement and simultaneously get a fair shot at prize, which the ballot was meant for.
We made it this way to make sure everyone had a chance at being voted and considered upon. We have talked about the possibility of everyone just PM’ing their top 3 rankings in each category. Would this work better, and make the voting less daunting?
Sorry everyone, we want to make sure this goes smoothly, and of course, we will be taking all the best of what worked moving into the future.
DO NOT FILL OUT THE BALLOT NOW. We might be changing the voting. Sorry to those who’ve begun. We are all figuring out the best way to do this here, in a way everyone will enjoy.

THE E4 ART CONTEST IS ON AN OFFICIAL 24-HOUR PAUSE

Hi folks!
So a few of you have reached out to us in consideration to the length of the ballot. While we do agree as a team that it’s the most fair, we also understand that the form is a bit daunting to complete. In consideration to this, as @brendantheclayboy said, we are putting the E4 Art Contest on a 24-hour pause to collect feedback on how to keep the ballot fair while also more accessible to complete.
Please let us know how we might improve on the ballot so as to keep this fair for everyone as well as fun. This is our collectively first time running an event like this so we appreciate the feedback.
During the 24-hour period, you are allowed to finalize your submissions (including those who needed a little extra time) by 6 AM EST on 4/13.
**AFTER the 24-hour period, we will post an update after giving consideration to your suggestions and feedback shortly after - starting the ballot at a NEW TIME to be announced.**Send us a PM or post in the comments below.

So I just finished my ballot and I’d estimate it took me 90 minutes to complete and feel good about my evaluations. I don’t think that is an unreasonable amount of time given the judging duration, but it might limit the overall judge participation (which isn’t fair to the effort all of the artists put in).
I get why there are 5 categories to evaluate on, but that is kind of a lot to consider for each piece of art. I kept referencing back to the guidelines to make sure I was reasonably understanding what you were going for in each category.
If a category could be removed to simplify judging, I would favor removing “Effort”. The other categories seem to have greater potential for score differentiation

Maybe a single 1 to 10 ranking to be submitted to you guys for each piece then a ‘finals’ round with full voting for the top 5 or so for the bigger categories and just top 3 for virtual?

I like the 5 category ranking system as it makes it fare but it would take a long time, especially if the contest grows in the future.
Yea… maybe people just pick their top 3 or 5 for each catagory and then a finals with ranking that includes each of the 5 categories.
The problem I have with the current poll too is that I don’t want people feeling bad if they get a very low score.

I agree that this might be the easiest way to proceed. Judging every single piece thoroughly is quite the endeavor. I do think that the categories are a good idea, it’s just a lot to do for every picture.

What we are looking at are these possibilites–every one still considers voting criteria, but not necessarily placing a number grade on each one:
1.) the most simple. Everyone ranks their top 3 of each category, and organizers tally those, giving a numerical value to #1-3, with 1’s obviously having highest values, and 3’s the lowest.
2.) We still have a ballot, but one that is more simplified. One single score for each entry. I very much like the idea of removing “effort” and making the remaining 4 criteria a mental consideration going towards one single score of 0-100 for each artwork. So in other words, the ballot becomes just a one slot fill in per submission, vs the current 5 slots and total.
3.) Then there is a similar possibility to #2 where we have a 1-10 but it is a sort of google doc that everyone just clicks their score.
In any case we will work toward making sure that the voters can view the artwork on the document vs having to switch back and forth to the 2nd post gallery of this thread. Something we wanted but didn’t have it figured correctly.
In the beginning we had wanted every single artwork to get a score. Not only was this seen as the most fair and comprehensive, but giving the respect to each entry that we felt it would deserve. People put a lot of time into this.
And thanks for feedback everyone. We are doing this to make sure it is the most agreeable voting method possible. Simple and not too time consuming, but still fair to every entry.
