As someone just starting out, in my first pass at graded card prices, it seems like BGS cards might be a bit more expensive than similarly graded PSA cards. Is that just a misconception given my extremely limited experience in Pokémon cards? Or is it true and there’s a reason for it?
PSA is the grading standard for pokemon period, but there are premiums when it comes to BGS 10s. By and large the values for grades go like this - BGS 9 → PSA 9 → BGS 9.5 → PSA 10 → BGS 10 Pristine → BGS 10 Black Label
P.S. - BGS 9.5s are considered “Gem Mint” by BGS so their Pristines and Black labels are pretty rare to receive when sending in cards that aren’t modern. This is a substantial reason why many people don’t send in mint cards to BGS (along with the fact that most people prefer PSA over anyone else)
correct and anything lower than an 8 for bgs is normally not really collected, so you can (as a really really loose measurement) cut the bgs grade in half to find the PSA equivalent.
