Hmm, apparently there is a Japanese special anime episode where Brock has a Dugtrio in his hand: #27 “Pewter Gym - The Biggest Crisis Ever”. Here some screenshots:
Based on the last picture, even Brock thinks it looks weird… How does it even go underground when it’s base is like that?
The base of both Diglet and Dugtrio is (almost) always the grey type of rock though, regardless of the ground Diglet/Dutrio is currently at.
PS: Guess I gotta search for a subbed version of this episode. I thought I had seen most Pokémon episodes, but some of those specials are a pain to find with English subtitles (or at all)… EDIT: Found the episode and saw it just yet, and apparently it’s a toy Dugtrio, not a realy one, rofl.
