Determine if Japanese Wigglytuff Pokeball Cosmos Holo is common

I have a Japanese Jungle Wigglytuff holo (#040) that appears to have a distinct Poke Ball shape in the holofoil pattern. I've compared it to several examples online, and most seem to show the standard cosmos/star pattern.

Is this a known holofoil sheet variation, a common feature of Japanese Jungle holos that I just never noticed before, or something less common?

I've attached close up photos of the holo pattern showing the Poke Ball shape.

I believe these were test prints for the Cosmos Holo pattern.

Found another post here that is pretty detailed. More than I could be at least!

thanks for the information. Mine isn’t a test print like those. It’s not square cut with sharp edges. This Wigglytuff has interesting patterns though.

This is a normal Japanese copy, not an English test print.

A split orb representing a Pokeball occurs when a print line crosses through one of the large orbs in the holofoil pattern. That general split-orb pattern is very common. Yours is a little unique because it includes a small disruption in the bottom half of the orb’s holofoil pattern, as if from a printer hickey, obstruction, or slight error in the holofoil material.

It is not purposeful nor common which might make it desirable to collectors who are interested in unique printing/factory errors, but I wouldn’t go thinking that it’s worth a fortune because of it.

Thanks for sharing. Hope this helps!

Thank you for the thorough analysis, much appreciated.

This may be off topic but my wife and I collect Jigglypuff and all evolutions! I have no idea about value but if you’re interested in potentially selling we could try to work something out!

At one point there was a member who brought up a potential test print holo pattern with the “globes” or “orbs” depicting Pokeballs such as this, but it was a repeating pattern. This is really cool though, I’m wondering if it’s more of an uncommon mark in the foil rather than a test print. I’d love to have an example like it though!
