I’ve seen some examples of this before but mainly under the impression the card was cleaned/altered at some point. I pulled this card and graded it myself, no cleaning was done to it.
I was wondering if anyone had any more information on this and possible reasons or sets that this happens to.
Thanks
I have seen ex era reverse cards do that over time (even after being slabbed). Though I guess it can also be from the slabbing process itself . Tough call, but doesn’t PSA show pre slab scans?
The scans look fine to me.
This has happened to numerous other collectors as well, probably an issue with environmental changes, and as wisewailmer said:
Ex era be pop controlling itself
Truly the goat
thanks for the quick responses here. environmental changes sounds very plausible, it wouldve had to occur before grading or during though, since i live in the desert with low humidity. my others slabs from the set havent shown anything similar yet which is reassuring. unfortunate but also cool in a way to have a damaged card with a high grade.
I dont know if cool is the right word. Its definetely unique, but just because it says 10 doesnt always make it a 10. Its alot of the reason people are buying the grade, and not the cards nowadays. With grading being so subjective almost every person would say its damaged, and if you ever did decide to get rid of it for any reason I would hope you would disclose this, and not portray the pictures of when they were slabbed. I would investigate how it mightve happened if you dont know, so it doesnt happen again if it was indeed environmental issues.
do you store your cards near some kind of humidity source like a shower/bathroom?
If youre a true collector, you’ll move to the desert to maximize card protection
The goal isn’t simply to have the driest air possible. For example, you want 30–50% relative humidity when storing books. Lower and the paper gets brittle.
Additionally, what you want to actually avoid are fluctuations in relative humidity, which basically means stable temperatures. The desert goes from really hot in the day to really cold at night so a small amount of moisture in the air (say from a shower) can be a real problem.
Climate of Phoenix - Wikipedia
Unlike most desert locations which have drastic fluctuations between day and nighttime temperatures, the urban heat island effect limits Phoenix’s diurnal temperature variation.[12] As the city has expanded, average summer low temperatures have been steadily rising. Pavement, sidewalks, and buildings store the Sun’s heat and radiate it at night.[13]

I’m aware damnit I’m just being cheeky!
i solely kept it in my closet and room the entire, same place i keep my other ex era holos. so far nothing has happened them besides blaziken.
very much appreciated information, thank you!
I don’t know how this would happen without cleaning chemicals or dramatic swings in humidity.
But whatever happened, it’s scary.
