This is what a lot of people don’t realize is that the barrier cost is very high to attend these events. Unless your a local to where the signing is being held, the expenses add up quickly unfortunately.
I would say the 1st one is nicer based on the sketch and it’s the original base charizard, not a reprint.
Good luck with purchasing one that you would enjoy!
These exact copies and comparables sell for about 1.5-2K USD each. 2-2.7k CAD. There are few places in the world where flight + hotel will cost more than that. The downside is it requires more patience and planning but the upside is that the experience itself makes the card way more valuable and you don’t have a rando name on it.
I’m with option 3. Get it done yourself. It would be a different story if it was a $200 autograph or something. The people selling these copies aren’t doing it out of the love of the community, they are taking on the expenses to go then making a profit.
Same. I’m not a big auto collector but the ones I do buy are older ones that were done before the personalization requirement went into effect. I don’t want “Trainer” or someone else’s name and a date on my card. Just the signature and maybe a sketch.
It’s your choice in the end! But from a budget perspective, it’s will be cheaper or comparable to get it done yourself (depending on where he’s signing and the amount you pay for the raw copy to get signed).
I’d go for Base 1999 one, but I have a bias/preference to the WOTC versions of Charizards. Feel like it’s what most collectors of Base Charizard would want the most.
If it’s just a generic question of what looks better then I’d say the first one. The sketch appeals to me more in particular and being on a Base Charizard instead of a reprint would be my preference. If you’d like to know which one I’d buy though, then I’d say neither.
I agree with what others have said, if you can’t get it done yourself or at least for you on behalf of someone else, then I’d skip it. Although, each to their own. Since I’m not an autograph collector I have no interest in purchasing one, typically.
If it’s a budget issue, I’d be cautious purchasing an autograph for that value if you have limited funds. For the same value you could easily find a much more valuable and rare card however, that might not be of interest to you which I can understand.
Either way, if you’d like to buy a card with an autograph then there’s at least plenty of options these days for you to choose from!
To me it’s a non-starter. The second is made out to someone not yourself, I’d feel weird having that card. At least the first says trainer so it’s a little ambiguous. I’d maybe look into getting one that just has his signature though that might cost a little more.
