Should add that it doesn’t go to the card but only the plastic case. Idk how to make it work, but there is probably a way
Same for me. The unfortunate thing in this case is a lot of people don’t do that. Especially if it’s not obvious like a binder ding card put into a high grade slab.
Is there a grading company that isn’t constantly in the drama cycle? Lol
If I created a company that’s sole business was to encapsulate items and because of my product, a million dollar item could be replaced with a $1 fake and no one would be the wiser… well I would say I failed as a company. And should go bankrupt.
I don’t understand this argument. Should the federal Mint be closed down because people create counterfeit money?
CGC just needs to go back to comics. Leave Cards to PSA, BGS and SGC.
CGC got lucky during the pandemic. They are now one of the worse TPG. Too much hype and clout chasing by CGC.
I grade with CGC but in small bulk cause some of my customers still like CGC, but the consumers are moving away little by little.
Just use what is the best at the moment. Be able to change when needed. Right now, move away from CGC. Things can change in the future.
*BGS is actually the worse run company probably in the history of any company, but some how they still survive. amazing.
“Every cgc card has high res scans when you search the cert. If you are buying a $30,000 Charizard you should probably be looking at the scans against what you are being sold.”
That’s why I picked a clean psa 6 with an indent, outside of centering it would be indistinguishable in a scan. It also doesn’t have to be a $30,000 card.
“Maybe the heat trick works, maybe it doesn’t (I refuse to watch PK’s videos) but this post sounds like all the comic collectors (I am primarily one) who are crying and will forget about this scandal in 6 months.”
The heat trick works, CGC has publicly made a list of 350 comics affected so far.
“People like you, PK, etc would never buy cgc slabs so why do you even care?”
If you read my post, I own 4 CGC slabs. This directly affects me and anyone else who owns CGC slabs. But you’re right, I will never buy another CGC slab. In my opinion, it would be silly to have any CGC card that I intend to sell at a later date. They’ve shown on two occasions they poop on any customer that’s spent money with them before the current day they are operating in.
“Why do people love monopolies in the hobby?”
I understand CGC being competitive is better for me as a PSA customer. A grading monopoly doesn’t help the PSA customer at all. I want nothing more than CGC to take a bigger chunk of PSA’s marketshare. Maybe we would get sub $10 grading fees. But they aren’t going to do that by having millions of resealable slabs on the market.
How are we supposed to regrade our cards or put them in binders if slabs ink them up after cracking? ![]()
Neat. So what is the $800 thing you need to buy in step 4?
…and that’s how Team Rocket started

The way easier fix is to attach the label to the case in some way that you can’t remove it without leaving a part stuck to the case. This way it destroys both the slab and the label for any future shenanigans. I’m assuming some industry has developed a tamperproof glue or something.
Yea there really should be something like that. Further tamper-proofing slabs feels like a pretty reasonable ask with how how much money is being trusted in the slabs of companies, not to mention, grading is kind of an expensive service
Asking the real questions here. I’m not worried about the case but instead an accidental painting of a card ![]()
Seems pretty open and shut with their evidence. Only question i have is how to determine their damages since this not only was counterfeiting/fraud in their name but also damaged their brand reputation.
Glad that there’s going to be some accountability for these scammers.
Looking at the lawsuit, however, the differences between the “true” graded copies and the fakes sent to be reholdered are very obvious. Why did CGC not catch this for so long? Are there any processes in place during reholdering to stop a fairly simple (and based on the evidence, rather ham-fisted and badly concealed) scam attempts from getting through?
Based on the lawsuit, it sounds like this reslabbing thing has happened hundreds of times so I’m sure they have chosen the most agregious examples to highlight.
I can imagine it’s pretty easy to sneak through. The job is to move the comic from an old slab to another, they aren’t actually regrading or looking at it too carefully
TBH it seems like they were just trusting of the re-holder. No re-authentication, etc - they were too trusting.
I’m glad that CGC scans all of their Pokémon cards. If they were smart, they would double check the card being reholdered against the scans on the certification number. It takes me less than 15 seconds to see if a card’s damage aligns with what is found on the scanned images.
Also glad that they are suing these pieces of
.
A lot of the issue as well is that anything between 9.4 and 9.8 is very subjective, and has always been, long before the scammers. Similar to a PSA 9 vs a PSA 10 subjective debate, the difference is often one or two spine ticks or an extremely light wrinkle
