Is CGC the industry standard for grading comic books?
There’s no real competition. They’re too far ahead and have too much money/reputation backing them at this point.

They are. CBCS (run by Beckett) is a viable competitor but they only have a relatively small market share and their slabbed books sell for cheaper than a comparable CGC book. There is also PGX and EGS but neither have a good reputation nor have value.

I’m probably wearing rosy colored goggles because it’s been 15+ years, but I feel like CGC has more stringently applied standards than either PSA or Beckett. I felt like you could estimate the grade (by their standards) and mostly get it right. At least back in the day
For vintage yes, but I feel like they have gotten a bit loose on ultra moderns of late, at least compared to cbcs.
