CCIC grading in China

I recently started collecting CCIC slabs but have found little information about the details of the grading company, i’m creating this topic so if you have knowledge from mainland china please share it !

It started with me buying a gem mint 10 CCIC slab (not the gold perfect grade, but the blue one) to see if i could cross grade it to PSA. There are numerous grading compagnies in China but i figured this is the main and more serious one. Upon receiving it I was shocked at how much better was the slab quality and transparency compared to the PSA one. I only collected PSA until now and it never bothered me that the slab was such low quality since it was all i’ve known. I only collect japanese but recently decided to also collect simplified chinese card, and so i will collect them in the gold CCIC10 grade (that goes around 30% more than the equivalent PSA10 on chinese market, since i think most chinese people realise that it is the better product for their evergrowing huge market)

Does other people have experience with CCIC, grading process, grading standards, prices, how to check the identification number, etc ?

Have you tried cross grading it to PSA? I’d be curious on how the grades cross.

Personally I thought about cracking one but did notice the slab does feel pretty sturdy.

Not yet. I tried to bend the slab and it made a crackling sound, i think similar to the TAG ones i saw on videos. I guess the clearer material is easier to crack/break than PSA soft plastic. (but i favor transparency over sturdiness)

I’ve cracked a lot of CCIC, usually buying 9.5s at auction for a maximum of +5% the raw market CCIC 10 for a maximum of +25% above the market.
Many people I middleman them buy them just to crack, especially expensive cards like Pikachu AR 151.

Grading in China is very cheap; most corporate cards cost between $2 and $6 per card.

Is it more easy to crack the old PSA label than CCIC, still both very easy.

Thanks for that info! I’ll be sure to give it a shot down the line when time permits

I prefer more CCG they were the most popular in China, maybe they are rank 2 now.
CCG have subgrades option and easy to crack.

Based on these data, CCIC standard is very close to CGC.

interesting, where/how did you get this data ? it would seem like the gold ccic10 is very hard to get ? like bgs10 black label hard ?

i wonder what the facilities look like, it’s supposed to be the official government certification agency right ?

They have miniprogram on wechat.

Any advice on cracking the CCIC slab? I just paid like 2k for the Gengar ALT and want to cross grade it with psa I also really dont want to damage the card doing so lol

It’s straightforward to open these slabs. I use cable cutters around the entire perimeter, focusing on the four corners. Then, I insert a screwdriver and apply pressure to separate the halves. My first attempt took about ten minutes, but now I can complete the process in under two minutes.

Thanks! So cut each corner then separate from the top or side?

Man the first CCIC I cracked ended up splitting in half on one face so I was terrified of damaging the card when prying it off the back face. Luckily it got a 10 at PSA but I was sweating…

All around perimeter too

Sorry if this is a little off top topic. Does anyone know if CCIC allows you to verify cert numbers like the majority of other grading companies do? I’ve had a look and can’t find anyway to do it.Thanks!

I never could figure out how to do it on the official website because apparently you need the name of the initial owner or something like that, but there is a micro program on wechat that allows you to check the cert. Still not very practical because i couldn’t scan the QR code, it is too small and m’y camera would have a hard time focusing on it, so I had to enter manually the number which is quite a bit longer than the PSA one…but it works

There is a mini app in wechat you can check both front and back. I always check before buying. CCIC it’s owned by the Chinese gov btw. This is why everybody use it now. If you send fake stuff you are accused of felony.

So I cracked open one ccic10 this morning, first time i’m cracking a slab.

The material was very brittle and flying everywhere, I should have used a plastic bag. Prying open without breaking the panel is difficult as you can see the crack on the picture. I should have go all around.
The card in itself is definitely what I would consider gem mint and most likely a psa10 in my opinion, so from sample of one i’m not disappointed in the grade scale

I can relate…I went in thinking it would behave like a PSA case. Had to take a dremel along both sides to get the front face off without deflecting it into the card. Will def use the method mentioned above from now on.
