What’s a card that you thought was out of reach and for one reason or another you were finally able to obtain?
Either by proves dropping or the right opportunity presenting itself.

I am so proud of getting this in hand that I flex it every time I got the chance to. Thanks for providing me the 3rd chance to flex on E4.
Well, after 2 whole months of back and forth I think I can finally announce this:
Yes, after looking for the card for more than 20 years, I finally got the demo Mattego.

First of all some back story for those who didn’t know “that one card” we’re talking about:
The Nintendo e-Reader released outside Japan is actually an upgraded version of the original e-Reader, which added support of connecting to Game Boy Advance or Nintendo Gamecube through link cables and feeding card …

Rayquaza Gold Star
Shared my journey to getting it on here recently
More of a lurker lately but I’m glad you made this thread Vert, Figured I’d share my story with you since I think you will be able to have a very similar journey as I did.
A bit of backstory,
I was a gen 3 kid around 2005 and loved Pokemon during these “dead years” when sets like EX Deoxys were modern. As a child I actually had Rayquaza gold star (!!) and I don’t know what ever happened to it. I either traded it on the playground for whatever random yugioh card or Pokemon card was the flavour …

Got cold feet because expensive, showed up finally, and I got cold feet. Second time in my life I did such a thing. The first time wasn’t a card, but its been a decade, and still haunts me. This one will probably now also haunt me. But I’m not made of money so what can you do?
Two immediately came to mind:
English Art Academy Pikachu by Ashley, which marked the final English Pikachu TCG card in my collection at the time (in September 2024), after collecting Pikachu in all languages since mid-2015.
What’s your most recent purchase?
Oh, nothing special. Just the final English Pikachu TCG card I was missing.
[DSC05483]
It arrived today. Although I still have some incoming recent releases, with this grail I now own ALL (315 at time of writing) existing officially released English Pikachu TCG cards. It may have costed me more than the car I recently bought, but it’s so worth it. Although for the first 25 years of Pokémon I’ve already completed some other languages (Dutch, …
As well as the more recent German Surf-Pikachu, which I had only seen twice prior (neither available for sale) in the 11 years I’ve been collecting Pikachu. Still feels unreal to finally have this card in hand (and I hope to one day say the same for the equally as rare German Flug-Pikachu and Spanish Pikachu Volador & Pikachu Surfista).
I did already mentioned it a few times in other threads, but I had made a pretty big purchase while I was already running low on funds. Luckily I had just enough left to be able to buy it, and I’ve lived of credit for the remainder of this month. Will have to start saving up again in the upcoming months..
But, this opportunity I simply couldn’t let pass. This is only the third copy I’ve seen in the ten years I’ve been collecting, and it’s among the rarest German Pokémon TCG cards …
Greetz,
Quuador
