I have a stack of 1st Ed base packs I bought ages ago, before weighing was a thing, that I still haven’t weighed. Part of me feels like I lose something in doing so, but know I have to if I ever sell.
I would like to say that the little trust i had in sealed pokemon is now completely gone.
This is a double edges sword as the more mainstream this gets and more boxes get ct scanned, who is going to buy them? How can anyone trust the sellers? How can you trust unscanned boxes?
Nobody is going to buy lottery tickets when the winning numbers are already revealed.
This could be the beginning of the end for the sealed pokemon market.
Guess I’m sticking with singles and Japanese booster boxes.
Really unfortunate. Some tcgs like one piece struggle too, so this is a big hurt for the hobby in some aspects.
Wow this is insane for loose WOTC packs for sure. Does anybody know if this would work for ex packs and later? Im wondering if the reverse foil would interfere with it
And would you be able to check every single pack in a sealed booster box or just the top 2 packs?
I think you’d be trusted enough to sell them as unweighed with it being believed. You’d have to sell within the community and not to strangers on ebay though.
This is interesting… isnt the unwritten rule in this hobby “dont buy loose packs” regardless if it says unweighed? If it says “unweighed” always assume its weighed anyway. The only thing I see changing in the future because of this information is instead of the ebay title reading “unweighed!!” it will be “unscanned!!” aside from that what does this really do? You can scam people differently if they’re new around here?
If you purchase a pack you can always weigh it and return it if you dont think its heavy regardless if it was “ct scanned” or whatnot. Im curious why they didnt try this with modern pokemon packs in this video, they went out of their way to purchase $250 wotc packs but couldnt try it on a $3 pack? Did they even mention modern packs at all? If so why didnt they? I may have also missed something if someone could fill me in Id appreciate it. Would like to know more on this. Im talking specifically pokemon packs and boxes not the other sports card video.
Even in a couple years if these machines are in every scammers household it seems like a difficult process to master. Will people start taking “osha” classes on how to operate these machines lol Pokemon company countered weighing packs by adding an extra strip to the sleeves, making ultra modern packs virtually unweighable. Im sure they will think of something to combat this when the time comes like adding a titanium plate around the packs (im kidding) but more like an extra card that has specific reflective surface on it. If it even effects modern pokemon product that is.
Very interesting video. Would like to see more on testing different kind of packs or booster boxes / display cases.
Industrial Inspection now provide the CT scanning service we spoke about here.
We can just move the conversation to the thread above
