He had a unl Dark Charizard I needed for the binder and live 5 min from me  lol.

I wouldn’t buy from someone who isn’t educated enough to know the difference between accept and except…

Honestly, you don’t have to explain it to them, the only way their collection would sell is some other uneducated idiot buys it. Most sellers are too stubborn, but when they find out their collection has been sitting for 5 years with no offers, they “might get learnt betterer”.

I’m dealing with a person like this now. They found a decent size collection in their garage from when they were kids and I gave them a decent offer and they replied as if 1-2 holos are worth that much. And I said no holo here in mint alone would be worth more than $100 or so and they never messaged me again. Idk how hard it is to look up generic prices. People thinking their unlimited charizard is worth $4,000 not sure where to go from there.

THIS lol. Also this is FB marketplace every day… So annoying sometimes but it just shows that they are tired of people telling them how much their stuff is worth and refuse to put the time in to research.

*Finds Base Charizard*
*Immediately types in charizard on ebay and justifies the first 1st ed that pops up for 5k+ because they are blind to reality*

2st edition cards, serious offers only!

Second edition cards, very rare, serious offers only, no low ballers

It’s kind of fitting to list something like that and then unwittingly say you don’t want any serious buyers.

That is why I ask “How much?” and when they reply with a price that makes @smpratte Illustrator look cheap I nicely say I can’t afford it and walk away.

I hate when they say well make me an offer, expecting something ridiculous than when you make them an offer they act like “they know what their collection is worth”

I just wasted half and hour trying to get a firm number from someone who wanted to sell a decent collection. They finally provided a number which was above graded prices.

I always just tell people who skimmed a buzzfeed article about their bill and shadowed machamp to list on eBay.

Its funny when someone originally ask $5000 for a card then they end up selling for $150 when they wise up. This is a true story I find it comical.

I saw someone ask $10k and the next seller was asking $1.50

I feel like social media and more access to smart phones has increased the level of greed in some “collectors” looking to sell their collections. They read an article and think they just hit a jackpot with a binder full of creased up heavily played base set unlimited holos.

One guy locally on Facebook marketplace listed a base set unlimited common card in horrible condition for $1,000,000

I didn’t know if he was trolling or being serious

This sounds exactly like 40% of everyone I’ve been dealing with lately.

I’m learning to just block these sellers if they start talking like this guy.
