Reasonably priced gold star 9s from a legit seller!
Yeah makes sense. Usually you have to wait for a few shilled auctions to overpay for one

Nah you got time, Im still small potatoes

I’m not a completist, so I’ve always just collected cards I like - though I do favor some of the EX era sets the most. I also fell back in love with Pokemon when I got my first slab, something about them just made me want to collect again,.

I also try to fund my collection by grading and selling slabs of my extras, and I’ll sometimes buy multiples for that reason. I’m a collector first, but slabs is now what I collect.

Nothing against binders, I started there - but it’s pretty much Slabby Patty’s for the PC…

Ive always preferred binders. There is just something special about turning pages and just admiring them all in one easy to view place.

I thought I felt the same but I recently discovered I was not “collecting” but rather purchasing. I wonder if our mindset changes, and the two things slowly morph together over time, or if we lose sight of our true motivation in collecting? IDK. Maybe it’s just me. Food for thought.

Good point and worthy of debate/further discussion - just for the record, I hardly ever purchase graded cards, 98% of the time I grade my own raw cards (some of which I purchase or trade for).

Funny, as I was typing this I realized I purchased a graded card yesterday off ebay, but only because it was a rare card and the seller surprised me by accepting my offer (It was a Japanese Dark Porygon 2 Holo in PSA 10). I have the raw card and was deciding if I should grade it, when I stumbled on the listing and sent a low offer not expecting to get it…so yes once in a blue moon, I do purchase a slab but it’s rare for me. Not the most popular card in the world, but I really like it.

I don’t see binders and slabs as mutually exclusive. I collect both
