Describing cards as unlimited from the non 1st edition print run is misleading. It makes it sound like more Jungle cards are going to be printed.
What is a better name for cards lacking that 1st edition stamp?
I believe French collectors call Unlimited âEdition 2â.
Stampless
limited-unlimited
I think regular or standard print could fit well.
Could be a bit misleading for sets where 95% of the print run is first edition imo
Uncool
I like unlimited since they were printed to oblivion. Does anyone actually get the impression they will be reprinted? (Outside of that one angry bulbasaur guy)
This got me lol
Thats not true for a lot of sets though (mainly japanese, but also dutch fossil)
Right, I was referring to english wotc in general.

IDK ⊠I got too accustomed to the term âUnlimitedâ to refer cards lacking the 1st Edition stamp that now I canât think in a better term for it ⊠![]()
Most Japanese people will say: â1EDăăŒăŻăȘăâ, aka âno 1st ed. markâ. ![]()

Maybe 2nd edition? Assuming it would be the only other major print run. I feel this could work if you look at other things out there because often times Unlimited and later print runs would fix errors or issues from the 1st Edition prints. Example, Base Set Red Cheeks Pikachu only found in the 1st Ed/Shadowless but was corrected/removed with the Unlimited run. This is sort of like a 1st Ed vs 2nd Ed textbook or novel where they correct mistakes, errors, etc or add other improvements.
I guess with WOTC they were still in the MTG mindset back then, so it makes sense why they went with Unlimited similar to MTG compared to another name.
I think âUnlimitedâ sounds fairly flattering and is my preference.
Iâve also heard them called:
âpoverty editionâ
âpeasant releaseâ
âeconomy editionâ
âcoach class releaseâ
As it relates to Japanese when the 1st edition run is 90% of total and the unlimited is 10% of the run, saying unlimited is misleading.
For English, it makes more sense since those numbers are reverse
Technically speaking, werenât unlimited (shadowless for base) the first officially released set cards to come out of the printer?
Technically speaking, the cards arenât officially released until they are in a booster pack intended for sale.
At what point is a card an official card?
