Artist Collectors of e4 - General Thread

You’re absolutely right, my apologies - it worked on a different browser. Ignore me!

It just shows how much I’ve got used to having it available, having it in date order is so much better than bulbapedia. Thanks again.

Awww thanks dude! It makes me genuinely happy that people actually use it and find it helpful
I have a huge order of cheap Komiya cards from T&T incoming that I’ll post here once I get them!

@macarver ,@brendantheclayboy , got my fat stack of Komiya and Kusube cards from T&T in today. $130 usd for like 150-250 cards (just a guess, didn’t count them).

The ones on the table are just the Komiya’s, didn’t have time to curate the Kusube’s yet.

Luckily, my two of my favorite cards from the order were coincidentally pack fresh:

This one order boosted my completion rate from anywhere in the 20%s (again, a guess) to now over 80%. This should show how insanely cost efficient a collection like this is. I decided to not care about language, just took what was available and the cheapest option.

(Also, why does no one ever talk about this artwork? It’s so magnificent I had to order multiple copies!)

I’ll post some pages of the binder in my collection thread to not spam too much pics in this thread here.

This could quite be the best $130 ever spent, ever. Pack fresh light Slowbro, makes me a happy boy

Love it @muk! Agreed completely on the bang for your buck with an artist collection, especially if you don’t worry too much about language.

The neo era was a definite peak for Komiya artwork, so many good trainers particularly. And for some reason he seems perfectly suited for the Slowbro evo line, every one he’s done is a classic.

Quite enjoying zooming in on that pile of goodness, a good number of mid-era cards I need to pick up myself; I seem to be getting the old back and very modern only at the moment.

And agreed on the Diglett artwork! Something about the building in the background and grey ground makes it feel like an abandoned plot of city land, with flowers and a Diglett popping up through cracks in the concrete. At least that’s the story I assume he’s trying to tell! You never really know with Komiya.

I know, right!?

I remind myself every day about how grateful I am.

Just so it’s out there, as much as I personally admire Komiya, this thread is meant to be a gathering place for all kinds of different artist collections! I’d be thrilled to learn about some new illustrators or see a few OG artists like Kimura, Kizuki, Harada etc here

(((and if you have a spreadsheet you want to share, that’d be even more exciting! But that’s just optional, don’t be afraid to share whatever you have or don’t have anyways!!!)))

That Diglett is Komiya’s favorite card out of all the cards he designed. He wrote about it in a recent Japanese magazine on the Pokémon TCG.

Really? Haha that’s awesome! Personally I wouldn’t go as far as saying it’s the very best, but certainly one of the best. Not gonna lie, it’s kinda cool to know that I like the same cards as my boy Tomokazu :stuck_out_tongue:

Is there a link or something to the article in the magazine?

I’ve mentioned that specific Diglett a couple of times in different threads over the last few years. It stands as one of my all time favorite Komiya’s with only New Year Present beating it. If not for my love for Gyarados, I’d probably start a Diglett collection JUST BECAUSE this card art exists.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Diglett is Komiya’s favorite Pokemon either - the Pokemon appears in a couple of his artworks:

It’s in this magazine. It includes interviews with several artists like Kirisaki, Sowsow and Arita of course. In one section several artists are asked to pick their favorite card. Komiya’s text is just as insane as his art. He talks about little Diglett’s dream to once rank among the legends. Sadly I don’t have the magazine with me right now.

So after looking through everything it appears there isn’t any release of this in english?

:sob:

What I wouldn’t give to get an edition of this that I could read…

I, and many others, would very much love to get a translation of Tomokazu’s (and all others’ really) of these interviews. So… if you happen to get the time at any point if you’re interested… we would be very grateful! In any case, thank you for sharing!

I think everyone is sleeping on NC Empire.

That…or I’ll have to copy this into the “unpopular opinions” thread

As soon as they get alt arts…better watch out.

Haven’t heard of them before, but I just looked them up and I quite like their dynamic, modern style! If you have a collection of them already, don’t hesitate to share some pics

I love all the love for Komiya. I’ve also recently become a total Himeno head, what she does with light and lack of colour is sick. This sort of spoils my collection thread but o well eheh

**Sees the slabbed VS Slowbro that is among the set of arguably Himeno’s most beautiful work ever done, grateful that she had Will’s line including the Slow’s**

**Thinks about the rest of the comment, equally adoring Himeno, always excited to share in the excitement for Himeno, and above all else, eager as all hell to see Maxy’s collection thread**
