Anybody collect rare books

I know it isn’t anything pokemon related but I also collect rare books and was wondering if anyone has any experience with rare harry potter books. I have a few I’m trying to get value on and see what I should do with them. I have 4 first edition first printing books

First edition first printing, of which ones? Also hardcover or paperback? Condition?

My understanding is the philosophers stone is rarest and most valuable but even some of the US first printing books can be a few hundred to a few thousand depending on the specifics.

Of books 4-7. With the errors. Hardback. UK printing. Books are in near fine condition. No yellowing. My prisoner of azkban is also hardback, UK print. It’s a 1st ed 2nd printing in a good condition with slight yellowing.

I have the 25th anniversary philosopher’s stone book which was limited in copies. As well as the raincoat publishing oh books 1-7 which was a Canadian release.

English I have a first print first edition of books 5-6 in good condition.

These sell frequently on Heritage Auctions. Take a look at their sold listings to get a better idea. Occasionally, they show up on Goldin Auctions as well.

How often does Harry Potter and philosopher’s stone first edition first print pop up on auction? Would love to add a copy even if it’s best up to my collection:slightly_smiling_face:

I don’t collect rare book editions but one series of works that has been on my to-do list since forever is the three-volume edition of Dante’s La Divina Commedia illustrated by Amos Nattini. Nattini was commissioned to illustrate the book in 1921 for the 600th anniversary of Dante’s death and he spent the next 20 years of his life creating the 100 lithographs to be found inside them. The three volumes are from 1928, 1936 and 1941, respectively. Prices have definitely gone up but they’re not at the “out of reach forever”-stage yet.

I will at some point in the not-so-distant future inherit part of a collection of rare books, some of them quite desirable, and I have done some minor preparatory work in trying to identify editions and values.
