Am I missing any?

My son’s birthday is in June. He’s always liked Psyduck. So instead of buying him tons of packs to open I thinking of buying him 1st edition WOTC graded Psyduck PSA 10s. I know they are not likely to double value over time, but they should hold value better than sword and shield. I have picked up the black star (question mark one) and fossil.
My questions are

  • am I missing any from the list below?
  • is the goldstar the top Psyduck?
(Ultimately this list may become a buying thread)

Rocket
fossil
Black star
Gym heros
Gym challenge
Neo

Others may look into

Gold W GC
Pokemon Bandai Carddass Vending Series 5 #153 Psyduck Slowpoke
1997 Pokemon Pocket Monsters Carddass #54 Psyduck
Scream
southern island slowking

Hey! I think you are missing the Psyduck from fossil! In terms of gold stars, there is no Psyduck gold star card. Here are some cool vintage higher end Psyducks you may consider:
Natta Wake Psyduck
The Gold W stamped Misty’s Psyduck
Pokemon Movie Meiji (1998 I think) Psyduck card

A modern card you might want to consider:
Munch Scream Psyduck

I hope this helps!

One other vintage Psyduck I could think about is the one from the Southern Islands sets in both English and Japanese (It has a Slowking in the center but also features psyduck and bellsprout).

I forgot the fossil, I did pick that one up already in PSA 10 (also got the black star)
The gold w stamp is the one I was talking about, don’t know why I wrote gold star. Thanks for pointing that out. There is one one eBay but they want $300…that’s not happening for that card.
Will look into that movie one
I saw the scream Psyduck (personally think it’s the best one). But I don’t much about that set

Thanks

There are quite a few you’re missing, comparing your list to the Bulbapedia list: bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Psyduck_(TCG).

In terms of value, you can check sale history on PSA’s website: www.psacard.com. If you click into the “POP REPORT” tab at the top (beside the PSA logo) you can then search for a card. From there after selecting a card you can select the ‘APR’ button to find the sales PSA has tracked. The W-stamped Psyduck you mention last sold according to PSA for $200 back in June 2018: www.psacard.com/auctionprices/tcg-cards/pokemon-game-promo/mistys-psyduck-top-deck-magazine-w-wizards-gold-stamp/values/527150#g=10. That said, PSA only tracks US sales. Any sale made outside of eBay.com (like eBay.ca, eBay.co.uk, eBay.com.au, etc.) will be completely unknown to PSA.

Im not sure if you mentioned trying for the e reader series, but the one from Aquapolis comes in a reverse holo variant and is quite adorable if you ask me (link is for reference):

Also, im not sure how old your son is, but theres loads of cool ones in modern sets that I appreciate for the large nature of the art, such as the Tag Team Slowpoke and Psyduck card in its different forms (full art, ultra rare, hyper rare and i think alt full art as well) which are very nice for presentation factors and also very affordable as well.

He is turning 9 in June.

That’s a happy Psyduck
Must of took Advil ahead of time
I will add that to my list

Originally I was thinking of getting PSA Versions of all the cards. Maybe I will buy the PSA Versions of some and get him a binder to fill with all the others

I have seen some really nice Pokemon collections on here from members.

Mistook price, it’s actually $400. Which may be a fair price. Maybe one day when he gets his black belt and makes straight A’s.

After you get all the Psyduck named cards, any Tropical Wind or Champion’s Festival card will also have a Psyduck somewhere in the artwork.

@rickybobby theres definitely many ways in going about this to make a great collection, but if only 9, id personally recommend as you said with some PSA and then maybe the rest binder, seeing as kids love having the ability the shuffle through them. You could even grab a nice looking sown in pages binder that zips which would be very nice for display and nicer than your traditional 3 ring styles (also more protective) while filling it up with loads of his favorites. Just recently, I gave a bunch of loose Snorlax cards to this 10 year old I know who plays the tcg alongside me at this local game store since its his favorite, and he lit up like crazy just to have them, so honestly you cant really go wrong in how you go about this. Just knowing that youre being supportive as can be to him is truly whats going to count the most.
