Alph Lithograph - Why Textured?

Hi all,

Just wanted to get some insight on this card from HG&SS (gasp! it’s not about Gyarados!). I opened a random Spanish pack today and pulled this Alph Lithograph:

I didn’t even know that this card existed and thought it was pretty cool. When I looked at it, however, I noticed it had a unique texture on it:

Anyone know why this is? At first I thought it was potentially an error but it seems that this was usually the case. I also read unofficial reports that apparently this card was only available in 1 and 3 boxes, is that true?

Thanks all!

They are all textured. Assuming they wanted to do something different and make it stone or relic like.

Can confirm that all of them have that texture. I have all four Alpha Litograph versions in my collection.

As for your question about pull rate I’m not sure, although it could be. I think they were (non-Holo) Secret Rares in the four sets they came in, kinda like the non-Holo Secret Rares of XY Evolutions. Although being a Secret Rare doesn’t automatically mean a low pull rate tbh, since they were still pretty high for these non-Holo Secret Rares of the XY Evolution set or the Character Rares of the Cosmic Eclipse set to give two counterexamples.

Thanks all for the info. Thought it might be worth the discussion but seems like it isn’t as interesting as I had initially thought. XD Cool card though.
