Crazy to think that 10-50% of the PSA pop for these cards have been graded in the last 12 months, when these cards have always had incentive to get graded and authenticated. Surely though it canât just be people finding copies after 25+ yearsâŠ
Itâs more extreme than the numbers show because historically all these cards would be going to PSA but now a significant number will also be in CGC cases
Lest us forget the one who tried to warn us
I remember Nidouken stating heâs seen stacks of many different trophy cards when he was hyping up pedigrees. Then refused to elborate further. Iâd imagine him & others probably know something. The one thing that gives me a little hope is that we havenât seen extra copies of snap magikarp or pikachu yet. But your evidence is damning.
Look at this run of CGC submissions: https://www.cgccards.com/certlookup/1401012547018/. Move the number up and downâbetween -7010 and -7021 there are a Bilingual Exeggutor, Spring Battle Road Trainer, Trophy Kang, PRISTINE 10 Miracle Diamond and Mysterious Pearl, and Pristine 10 Daisuki Club Umbreon and Espeons. Also look here and move the cert number up by one and look at the insane run of cards: https://www.cgccards.com/certlookup/1401019894001/. There is 2 Uni Karpâs, 1 Tropical wind, 3 TMB Lucky Stadiums, 3 illustrators, and FOUR Bilingual Exeggutors. (The run ends at 1401019894014)
One point to note thatâs pretty straightforward but thought Iâd mention anyways is that +1 on a pop report doesnât necessary mean +1 copy of the card. Regrading seems to be on the uptick over this past 52 week period/hype cycle.
I donât think one can say regrading alone explains these increases, but is likely a factor. How big a factor, I donât know.
these novel trophy cards are obviously forgeries.
There is a vast canyon between forging a piece of paper (the prototypes) and forging a âgenuineâ trophy card. We donât have any hard evidence (yet) of any actual trophy cards being printed. These trophy sheets arenât proofs. They werenât made on an offset printer, just a regular print shop. Right now, I donât see any reason to believe anyone is printing fake ârealâ cards.
The one thing that gives me a little hope is that we havenât seen extra copies of snap magikarp or pikachu yet.
This is exactly why I donât see a reason to believe fake ârealâ cards are being printed. I know for a fact people are looking for these and they arenât able to find any. Even from Akabane.
I donât know a lot about this but there is something to consider, would akabane have the print files to all the snap cards?
An absence of extra copies of card x shouldnât preclude there being extra copies of card y. Especially if card x has one copy available, and additional copies would get a lot of attention.
sell ânew certâ to investorino, buy old cert for half the price after convincing them that psa 10 is really psa 8 condition
What website is this?
Thank you!
Forgive the lack of experience here, but with so few cards distributed what about tracking all the unique holo patterns? Would that be feasible?
Letâs see:
-
Early 2022: Akabane starts showcasing prototype pokemon cards and several other rare TCG items
-
Late 2022: Akabane privately sells some of the items shown that year, notably the prototype starters
-
Early-to-mid 2023: Japanese boom
-
Late 2023: Akabane continues to show rare TCG items in his possession
-
Late 2023-early 2024: Deletes his IG..
-
Mid-to-late 2024: prototype fakes printed..
And somehow in the past year, we saw loads of unikarp, lucky stadiums, tropical wind, illustrators⊠are graded and dumped on auction houses..
