Advice on first 'expensive' purchase

I’m looking to buy what is the first ‘expensive’ card for my Pokémon Go collection. From my own research this looks like a good deal but wanted to run it past you guys for some final due diligence before I pull the trigger:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/168023168666

Slab looks intact and not tampered with. PSA logo bottom right. Registration checks out with PSA.

Got a high res image from the seller of the back to check integrity:

Good to go? :grimacing:

No problems, buy it if the price is right

Don’t worry. Folks are not faking a 38 pound PSA 9 Mewtwo from Pokemon Go.

This is a good grade to go after (not 10s) for both first timers and what you’re willing to part with in terms of cost.

If you can wait for auctions, you might be able to get it cheaper, but that also depends on location and how long you’re willing to wait. And things like overseas purchases come with their own set of costs to avoid where you can.

The £38 is what worried me  Quite a bit lower than most other listings and average.

I’d also add from experience: when you can, buy raw when sets release to avoid concern of fakes.

If you must go for CGC, opt for the grade of 10 which sometimes is better than PSA 9s.

That price aligns to what I’ve seen in the US.

Assuming it was graded after PSA started taking pictures of their graded cards (and some other scenarios such as the card having gone through the PSA Vault at one point), you can compare the Ebay listing’s pictures against the ones taken by PSA either to verify that it’s the same card that PSA graded (as there has been instances where a card has been swapped out with a copy and then sent back in for grading for another 10 slab - can’t say if this is still happening or not) or for a better resolution to check more minute details.

You can visit https://www.psacard.com/cert where there’s a entry for you to put in the cert number which’ll pull up PSA’s info on the cert. This includes pictures which you can click on for a better view.

Alternatively, Ebay can show you the same details on their page:

If you use “Open Image in New Tab” on the picture in Ebay’s popup window, and if you remove the /medium in the link in the new tab then it’ll give you the original picture which should be the maximum resolution. This is the same picture that is used on PSA’s page as Ebay’s just pulling the same data.

Thank you so much. I did have a look at this and from what I can see it all checks out.

I’m going to go for it :folded_hands:
