2001 Pokémon VS Collection

Hello all! It’s been a couple years since I posted here and figured what better way to make a comeback than to show off my favorite set.

ポケモンカード★VS is a Japanese exclusive expansion that pairs well with the original two Gym sets. Showcasing the Johto gym leaders, elite four, and bringing back some great new additions to the Kanto lineup. Will be posting the set in numbered order so there will be a few jumps Between Johto and Kanto characters. Without further ado, let’s pop into it!

@pfm I’m pretty content with everything as a 9+ (Charizard aside) But I always consider upgrades if they ever come along for sure, I still have a handful of cards available to grade to potentially do a few upgrades on my own. One thing I know for sure I need to upgrade is the Trainer Magazine Pryce’s Lapras but I’ve had not such great luck with raw copies and there are only a couple 9’s graded by CGC at the moment.

That Omastar and Kabutops… There’s just something I love about those early 2000’s 3D renderings. It’s giving Pokemon Colosseum vibes.

Bruno’s pokemon are also odd. I’m guessing the metal balls are related to the game/trainer somehow? Anyway are they made from clay? Or toys? Its hard to tell, but really cool either way. Sick collection!

Bruno’s are all claymations, all of Yuka Morii’s card designs are that style. As for the balls, I assume they’re just supposed to be boulders, but clay so may not translate well

Welcome back and awesome post to return with. VS is a great set, and to have all of the cards is such high quality is just absolutely stunning to see. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to the updates when you get the other cards back.

@traineramy those are my favorite! I may be a little biased because Sneasel is my favorite Pokémon… but you really can’t knock any Arita masterpieces.

Fantastic collection! Really digging the Karen’s Houndoom, Tyranitar and Umbreon. Gen I and II are by far my favorite and this set is just amazing.

Welcome back and amazing VS collection. I think the black CGC labels look fantastic on this set especially with the black background from scanning. I also really like how you grouped the cards by trainer/artist, really accentuates the best qualities in this set. Karen/Kusajima, Blaine/Masago, and Lance/Kusube are my favorites!
