I’m looking for this specific book. The Japanese title is ポケモンカードゲームはじめてブック(おうよう編). It was distributed at official Pokémon Gym events in Japan around 2006-ish. This specific version that I’m looking for, the (おうよう編) version, has Stage 1 evolutions on the cover—Raichu, Charmeleon, Grovyle, Wartortle, etc.
I’ve not seen this particular version sell before, so I’m not sure what it would normally be valued at. The other Beginning Books I have from the DP era, I was able to mostly buy for less than $20 on Mercari/Yahoo Japan/etc., but seeing as how this one seems to be more rare, I’ll start by offering $60, since a buy price is required per the forum rules. I’m willing to negotiate, though. That said, if anybody has this book, even if you don’t particularly want to sell it, please reach out to me regardless.

I appreciate it! Honestly I’m a little bit skeptical that this stupid book ever actually even got printed/distributed, since that page I scanned is the one and only sign of it I’ve ever seen. If it really was given out at events like they said it would be, then surely somebody would have taken a photo or sold one at some point, yeah?

おうよう編 means something like “Applied Edition” or “Practical Edition.” That’s the one I’m looking for. The one I already own, shown above, is the きほん編, or “Basic Edition.”

Yes I have never come across any sold copies or sold listings as well. Maybe it is really niche thing with no available sale records. But regardless, will keep an eye out, also whenever you ping.
