It’s almost 4 PM and I’m getting ready to take the hour bus ride to work another night. I got a text Friday while at work from my roommate saying I had a package. I’ve been working crazy nights in retail while I’m in the middle of my career slump for the time being so I was unable to take a look at it until today.
I cannot fathom the kindness you have shown me. I cannot be any more grateful, especially after being gone for several months in a row. Know that in that time, I still thought of this incredible group here, often with guilt as I had wrongfully thought I had nothing to contribute amongst my current financial woes, but also with eagerness in being able to be a part of it again. Consider me back. Not as active as I was before, but back nevertheless. I realize I have friends here who I can still talk to, excitement I can still share, because me having a collection or not doesn’t matter. It’s what we all share.
I’ll have pictures up later, but basically the package entailed a Mega Gyarados Collection box as well Gyarados Evolution cards. I hadn’t even known that it existed, which is how out of touch I’ve been with the hobby, but the nostalgia hit home.
But what made the tears start rolling was the surprise card and seeing what was inside and the additional non-collecting related gift which I’ll not describe out of the wanted anonymity by those involved. I think I cried for half an hour straight out of the sheer appreciation for the extra efforts. Things have been really hard and this holiday season has been a mental burden for the most part this year.
But you changed that. Thank you all so much. You guys made my holiday. Even those who weren’t a part of this, know that you guys have a place here and you are valued as well. After all, you’re here.
