Neither can pokemon company. Someone tell them to print less plastic and air, and more booster boxes. I want pure dense bricks of cardboard.
thats sounds like alot ive just been selling taymas ornaments
I don’t think anything has significantly changed. I guess the general community energy has felt tepid to me lately, but I couldn’t really put into words why.
I’m not a big seller and I really only track the prices of cards I own, card I want to own and cards I own that I intend to sell so my perspective is pretty limited. So take this with a grain of salt.
Vintage still seems strong to me. Prices aren’t going up 20%+ with each subsequent auction like they did throughout most of 2025 but prices are at least maintaining. More importantly, when desirable vintage cards hit the market they are being gobbled up almost immediately. I can think of many cards I wanted that just kind of sat around at the same price throughout 2023 and most of 2024 that are immediately selling at 2x-10x those prices when they hit the market today.
I’m less into modern for my pc but ironically I grade and sell far more modern than I do vintage. I’m seeing a lot more price volatility in the modern market. Liquidity is still strong but with a 95+ business day lead time at PSA I’m being more selective on what I buy and grade because I’m not confident the market won’t look completely different by time I get them back. Hell I just bought a mega charizard UPC for msrp at my lgs…Things seem to be slowing down.
All that to say I don’t think the 30th anniversary will add fire to the flames. The only thing would be if TPC announced something to further spark interest. We’ve already seen the pocket rocket, ‘Pokemon world’(?) and the lego collab. Maybe they have another bullet in the chamber but I don’t expect anything groundbreaking. I see far more people openly talking about dumping their ‘position’ because ‘30th anniversary + tax refund season = profit’ so it’s possible it will have the opposite effect.
Who knows though ![]()
Gold and silver hit all time highs, bitcoin is stuck holding $85-95k range. US dollar seems to be crashing. There may be larger market interest in extreme niche items and then continued scalping etc due to a hurting economy. Paul auction may bring new buyers to the hobby purely as high-end investors.
After all, why continue to be interested in overpaying for new product every single time? Some discover burnout faster than others
On the whole, with the USD falling off a cliff I imagine people will speculate even harder on collectible assets now

I’m not on socials so it’s hard for me to know what’s happening as far as reach and marketing goes for this box break. Same with the 30th coming up.
I can already see the YouTube titles:
I BOUGHT ONE OF LOGAN PAULS PACKS
Logan Paul just BROKE POKEMON
Top 10 Cards I’m going to pump and dump that are HIGHLY undervalued
How to cook an enchilada and the Pokemon market
Although that last one is mostly speculation.
Either way there has already been a reach for Pokemon. Especially this last year with Pokemon making the news with scalpers and people who aren’t even closely related to Pokemon at all talking about it, so I feel like people who would have gotten into Pokemon because of that sort of exposure would have gotten into it, and I really don’t think that it being the 30th is going to make a difference with them.
I also think that with all the exposure about scalpers, people probably think that Pokemon collectors are a bunch of losers who fight people at Walmarts
not sure if anyone would really want to be a part of that community.
In 2020 for example or even 2016, I’ll go ahead and speak for those who weren’t into Pokemon and tell you that it was literally the first time we had thought about it since we were knee high to a grasshopper, so it was heavily influenced by nostalgia, and I don’t think the ingredients are the same this time around.
Maybe I’m just naive but at a certain point we have to run out of new people to enter the market and new streams of capital, right? right???
As long as Pokemon brings in new generations, new streams of capital will follow as those kids grow up.

@dblast what do you think
Taps the birthrate chart
Personally I think we are still in the bull market but if there is an additional boom, I think it won’t be because of Logan Paul. It’ll be because the Chinese Pokémon market coming back to Pokemon after riding the Silver and One Piece TCG hype.
we need to start having more kids to protect our investments!!
Problem is it just takes one of 'em to develop an insatiable gambling addiction then BAM goodbye generational wealth
life is about risk brother
