Why?

Why is Oddish running away from Totodile? Doesn’t it know it has the type advantage?

Looks like Totodile has the shredded remains of one of Oddish’s family members in its mouth. Try as it must, Oddish only has a base speed of 30 to Totodile’s 43. Soon, this Oddish shall meet its fate.

I think it may have to do with totodiles big pointy teeth.

I totally missed that! Guess I always think about the game mechanics before TCG mechanics.

Effect Spore will straighten that out.

It could be a high stakes foot race. Maybe they had a 3,000 dollar bet on who would win. Oddish thought he could win but only had 314.26 to his name. So hes freaking out cause tododile is gaining on him cause he is much faster then oddish thought!

That is it!
Ok, I’m closing down this thread. We found the correct answer.

So, were just going to ignore the possibility of a level advantage and individual values differences from the base values, (they’re probably wild so we can agree to ignore effort values)?

In that case we have to account for nature as well

I’m guessing that Oddish is Timid

This Oddish has nothing to worry about tbh, they all have the hidden ability Run Away, which allows them to always successfully flee from Battle. No drama here, our purple plant gets away

One has sharp teeth the other is a plant.

expedition was released in gold silver era, no Pokémon nature yet.
