Why is this a 9 as it says on psa site they may allow few flaws it card otherwise is clean

It literally doesn’t matter if you’re a new grader or not, you aren’t going to get penalized for giving too many 10s.

Source?

I agree with you, but I do think there’s some merit to these companies holding graders accountable if there seems to be too many corrections on the QA side. On the flipside though, there could be ramifications if a grader is much too harsh and undergrade it too. Hard to know for sure.

Top center edges on front of card. Seems like a 9 to me.

Do you have any other source yourself then the ONE video everyone now takes as facts? Cause I have not seen it

Idk what video you’re talking about but here’s an article from the New York Times

One source is better than none

Can you screenshot the part where new hires get fired if they give too many 10s? I can’t read the article without an account

Personally, I would crack and resubmit, but they are notoriously hard with their 10s. Centering, surface, edges, corners all look really clean! If you do, be really careful not to damage the card (duh, I guess), and also realize that actually slabbing it can occasionally cause unexpected damage. Of course, so can shaking the card inside the slab… If it were me, it’s a gamble I would take, but I’m not everyone : )

There isn’t any source. It’s people blindly believing the word of someone who never actually graded, and is speculating about the process. Ironically, the article cites the video as the source of its info. So it’s all a nothing burger.

The true irony here is that you’re still sharing speculative conspiracy theories when people don’t get fired for giving out 10s. That’s just illogical to think this way. The issue now is that people are running with what some people alleged as factual arguments.

Do you grade cards for a living?

Lol just admit you were spreading misinformation , it’s okay everyone can be wrong time to time

There are multiple sources describing how the grader calibration process works, and how it is implemented in a recurrent manner to keep graders in check. PSA has many flaws, but lack of professionalism in the industry is not one of them, at least when you compare to the others companies. They are the industry standard not just because they were first. All other companies would have crumbled and failed if they were under the same pressure of submissions and backlog. Many people think their grading consistency and reliability is bad, and there is truth in that, but also you could see it the other way, they are actually quite good given the scale their operating at and the subjective nature of grading.
