I’ve run through the games with pretty much every starter, but these were my first choices:
Charmander
Totodile
Mudkip
Chimchar
(haven’t played Gen 5 yet; will probably go with Tepig when I get around to it)
Froakie
Litten
Sobble will be my Gen 8 pick.

I’ve played all first 3 gens with all starters but my favorites have been squirtle, chikorita and torchic

I’ve picked most of the starters at some point or another, but my favorites for each gen are probably Squirtle, Cyndaquil, Treecko, Chimchar, Snivy, Froakie, and Rowlet. Gen 8 pick will depend on the stats and appearance of the final evolutions.

Charmander and Cyndaquil.
Venusaur was my best Pokemon in Let’s Go Pikachu. Charizard seemed pretty weak in the game.

Charmander, all 3 gen 2 as I had the 3 games so chose one on each game, treecko and monferno.

Bulbasaur, Totodile, Treecko, Chimchar, Snivy, Froakie, Rowlet, and Scorbunny (when I get the game).
I always typically loved Grass and Water Starters over Fire. I really liked Charmander from the first generation and probably would have selected Charmander over Bulbasaur, but I loved Bulbasaur from the anime so much that I chose him as my first starter instead.
Totodile, to this day, is still my favorite all time Starter Pokemon.

Bulbasaur, Cyndaquil, Mudkip, Piplup, Oshawatt, Fennekin, Popplio. Not sure about gen 8 yet, gotta see what final forms look like.
Runners up are Turtwig, Tepig, Litten, Rowlet and Chikorita. Gen 7 was tough for me choosing a starter.
Charmander all the way when I was younger. I like to change it up on replays now though lol
