I’m expecting my first child in April, the tradition goes to celebrate by cracking open an expensive bottle of whisky but my drinking days are long passed in university. So, once we’re back home and settled, I’m thinking of lighting a couple hundred bucks on fire in another way and cracking a vintage pack of Pokémon cards instead (for the first time since the early 2000’s).
I barely have any vintage sealed but I have the following packs -
Jungle: Bought 2018 from a local player/friend who’d had them a long time, reasonable chance of being legit unweighted. Has nice commons like Pikachu and Eevee.
Fossil: Bought 2018 same deal as above. Has a higher top end with Dragonite and Gengar.
Rocket: Bought off eBay in 2020, ‘unweighted’ but almost certainly light. Best set overall for everything below holos imo. Carries the risk of the rare being a non-holo trainer or energy.
Snorlax, Gengar, Dragonite, Dark Charizard as top chases are all roughly equal. I personally think the Eeveelutions are the most appealing “secondary pull”, over the legendary bird trio and Dark Dragonite/Blastoise.
For commons/uncommons, they all have beautiful and iconic artwork.
I would go fossil personally.
Maybe would have been Team rocket if I didn’t know it was light but you can’t really knock any choice here, love this whole concept.
Team Rocket because I love the artwork from that set more than Jungle, and I have a personal chase card that I want to get without buying a single from tcg lol.
