Where are the mid grade Japanese gold stars?

I don’t understand why Gold Star Japanese don’t have a lot in the mid grades. You’d think that’s where the majority of the pop sits… but but that’s clearly not the case in the brief sample below.

Up until this year, most Japanese gold stars in grades under PSA 8 were not selling for much more than played or lightly played raw prices.
