When will mint cards disappear ?

So I was watching gemmintpokemon’s latest video, and he made a comment about how it’s getting harder to find mint copies etc. My question is how long do you reckon until all mint copies vanish,so that only boxes remain. Making it harder to find copies unless your man enough to open a box :stuck_out_tongue:

The rate at which mint cards can be found ungraded is diminishing exponentially (probably), but I don’t think it will ever hit 0 for a long time.
Obviously WOTC will be hardest, followed by e-Series. Oddly enough then i think it will be harder to get HGSS mints than D&P mints. Seems to be less product and cards from that time period available overall.

Makes you wonder how many people have big stashes of ungraded cards out there :thinking: but yeh won’t be long till there isn’t much readily available unless you just buy graded

I’m pretty sure it will be available for long times to come, however it’s not going to be easy to find them and it will likely cost a lot, but does that make it unavailable?

On the other hand, finding 1st edition mint cards is already more difficult, but it shouldn’t be impossible.

True but it’s Only a matter of time surely till they dry up and only 8s are available but that’s my view. I’m sure it’ll be awhile

Keep in mind some collectors prefer raw mint condition cards. These collectors may be in the minority now but I think mint condition cards will be around for the foreseeable future. I have several shadowless holos that are mint that I currently have no plans to grade.

In my opinion, there will always be mint cards available in the market, just that it would appear less and less often. Unless the card in question has a specific number attached to it like trophy cards, one would always sprung up either from a raw card collector or from someone randomly finding one when they are cleaning out their attic.

There is also the possibility that some people don’t grade their cards because the barrier to entry into grading with PSA, an American company, much more difficult with international countries. So perhaps when PSA has more of an easier international presence in the submission of their cards, some may still appear from people who are unwilling to go through the hassle of getting their card graded.

Oh yeh I’ve no doubt in my mind there’s heaps of people with mint collections but I’m meaning mint copies on the market. Because a lot of those copies id imagine would stay with the owners for a long long time

That’s true! I guess what I’m trying to say is that there is always going to be one or two people per year who would randomly come across the card raw in their binder and selling it in the market. Even trophy cards with an even limited print run tends to appear once or twice a year, I just find it unlikely that cards with even a higher print would completely vanish :stuck_out_tongue:

Mint raw cards will ALWAYS be available in the market, just at increasingly lower rates
There will always be the odd collection for every now and then.

I have been talking about this with many of the big graders I know and pretty much all experience the same, me included. Mint ungraded cards are getting increasingly hard to find, eventually, it will drive the price up.
At this moment, there is still enough PSA supply left, but since less high grade cards will be comming back, supply will decrease and there will be less availability on the market.

This is a good topic! Most rare cards already have run out in a general sense. Some trophy cards in a literal sense.

The lack of supply is what makes hobbies exciting and historical long term. The Action Comics #1, (first issue with superman) only have a couple copies with white pages (mint condition). I remember one sold for 3.2 million in 2014. Regardless of the price, I thought it was so cool that only a couple have the white pages.

Those type of patterns will emerge down the road in Pokemon. 1st Ed and shadowless base are already there.

Years from now most of the topics in Efour will not be about obtaining ____ card, but which safe is the most secure!
