Haha yeah, they do check & are roughly aware of what most stuff is worth.
The shop doesn’t sell slabs online, so they try to price stuff for what they reasonably think someone might walk in and pay over the counter.
Most of the walls are filled with sealed product (their main seller) and import Japanese merch, so they don’t mind if their mountain of PSA slabs aren’t always maximised for profit…luckily for me!

I know a shop that has a similar strategy with video games so its not unheard of. They know their margins and as long as they get what they need then they are happy to keep things priced to move. Things easily half the price as can be found online. The owner is happy to be doing something he enjoys.

Yeah, that’s pretty much the same vibe these guys have with Pokémon cards. The owner has said to me in the past that he prefers a cheap sale to an expensive dust collector on their shelves.
Almost all of their PSA cards are graded from raw sales/trade-ins that they get through the door, so they’re essentially already in profit whenever they sell a slab.

Went to my comic shop to pick up a bunch of my pulls from the last month or two. They had a bunch of 1st base cards in NM condition! SP means LP for them, but they were too hard on condition imo (even tho they said they felt they were being lenient already bc theyre vintage cards). I basically cleared them out

I just need one more and i have completed the obtainable ones! Aerodactyls next but i havent seen a 10 listed for under 1500 yet and thats a bit steep. Trying to knock out the ones without staff variants first.
