Trying to research MSRP compared to distributor price to get a better picture of how it works and difference from that compared to suppliers in pokemon sets.
Also wondering rules and regulations for distributors in order for them to sell a set (limits, how much they can sell, how they handle online businesses and stores) and where they are in the process of pokemon printing - stores (although I think have a good idea of this)
Again, just trying to do some research, not for going into a business like that.

I just recorded my patreon mmr video for April and go into this topic. Tldr, The companies that used to charge $79 a box (distributor pricing) for years are now charging over $200 a box. Rudy also mentioned how distributors increased their prices.
There aren’t strict rules and regulations like in other industries. The idea of a shell company selling product direct to market is as old as the $79 price tag. Also MSRP for the longest time was around $143, yet boxes sold for $90-100 for decades. Because boxes have always sold for market value as MSRP is Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price. It wasn’t until 2020 that you started to hear the term MSRP, because the market value of boxes was higher.
Ultimately this noise cycle isn’t logical. People only care about MSRP when prices are higher. The boxes have always sold at market value, right now that’s simply higher due to increased demand. The shining fates boxes everyone complained about in 2020 are cheaper today.
