What to do if seller won't respond to messages about invoice

Hello all.

So a few days ago, I made a best offer on eBay for 10 1st Edition Base Set cards (ungraded). After about a day-and-a-half, the seller accepted my offer. However, at checkout, it says shipping will be $13.40. Obviously, I’m not paying 13 bucks for shipping for 10 cards (and it’s not like these are Charizards or anything; it was 10 commons), so I messaged the seller asking if they could send me an invoice with combined shipping.

That was two days ago. The seller has yet to respond. I sent the seller another message this morning asking if they received my previous request for the combined shipping, but there has still been no response.

If the seller doesn’t respond, what do I do here? Am I stuck paying the $13.40 for the shipping? Or am I in the right because the seller is simply not communicating with me?

Yes if they don’t respond and you want to complete the order, you will have to pay the shipping. Are these ungraded cards?

I think you are stuck paying for it.

Yes they are. I went back in and edited my OP. I should have specified that from the beginning. They were 10 ungraded commons.

So if I want to cancel the order because of this, am I subject to negative feedback from the seller? Or would I be able to get the potential negative feedback removed because I tried to communicate with the seller on multiple occasions?

Buyers have god mode hack since 2008 and cannot receive negative or neutral feedback.

Lol gotchya. Well hopefully the seller responds. I’m willing to wait them out as long as they just get back to me.

Sending 10 ungraded cards should not cost more then $3-$4 max with tracking uninsured.

Since the seller hasn’t responded for 2 days, my advice would be to message him and say,

“If you cant combine shipping on my orders, I’d like to cancel them all. Thank you.”

Its polite and straight to the point. Don’t pay 3x the amount for shipping for no reason.

Also depending on how he responds that to message would depend on how I’d leave feedback.

Leaving a neg or neutral feedback because a seller isn’t responding or combining shipping is a good enough reason for me, in this specific scenario.

Appreciate all the responses, everyone. Thank you.

Was shipping method and costs specified in the listing? It is fairly likely he was and he only accepted the $100 knowing he was getting money on top for shipping though it sounds like you were assuming in your offer that $100 was $100 shipped. It usually is very clear when you make an offer than any shipping will be in addition and it usually shows what that amount is too (at least on computer).

Are you in the US?

If he sends 10 toploaded cards in a bubble mailer international then he is about spot on with the postage as it starts in that ballpark for first class international which is the same method I ship single PSA graded cards.

Minor caveat:

Too many unpaid items cases on your account can restrict you from buying from certain sellers if they have their seller account setup to block those sorts of buyers.

It’s a minor concern if you only fail to pay once every couple months, just FYI @Cerulean

If you ask the seller to cancel though, you will have no negative marks upon cancelation. Hopefully he responds…

If you’re going to buy multiple items from the same seller, and you have any shipping questions, ask before you bid. Otherwise you should pay the invoice.

It’s surprising to me how many buyers are unaware of this. Probably for the better though.

If OP does not provide payment for the order; any neutral / negative feedback can easily be removed by the seller.

Yeah I wouldn’t advise leaving negative feedback. If they are not responsive, I don’t know if cancelling will be an option at this point.

Good news: the seller got back to me and sent me an invoice for combined shipping. Guess the seller just takes a long time to check their messages. Lol.

Thanks everyone!

It wasn’t $100. It was for $30.

And shipping cost was listed, but nothing on combined shipping. As Gary said, I probably should have asked beforehand regardless. I just assume that most sellers offer combined shipping (never encountered a seller that didn’t).

And yes; I am in the US.

But all is all well that ends well.

Ah ok I have no idea where I thought I had read $100. But yeah in the future ideally ask ahead of time as you mentioned. If not asking ahead of time it is safest to just assume the worst and only bid/offer assuming no combined shipping discount. Then if you win and they do it, its just that much better of a deal.

Glad to hear it worked out. I try to get back on my messages a few times a day but things do come up from time to time that may keep me 24-48 hours without having a chance to check as well.
