Finished the manga, still need to check out the live action. Kinda reminded me of Beck: Mongolian chop squad. Honestly im surprised its as popular as it seems to be but i suppose im not the target audience. Either way, thanks for all the details about it, was nice to try something new.
Just picked up some new IEM’s (in-ear monitors). I’ve been having to work in an office more recently and I have come to terms that it’s far easier to work with sound isolation than without on most days. Upper management has made the office spaces all open and ‘collaborative’, but it’s harder to work in it compared to before due to all the noise.
I did a ton of research and these were by far the best I could find at any price point. They’re called the Etymotic Research ER2SE:
They’re basically a cheaper clone of the famous ER4S from the 90s. I was somewhat concerned about the fit when reading about this brand, but luckily they suit my ears well. The sound quality is far above expectations. Very clear & detailed sound, I have a couple much more expensive full size headsets that don’t sound any better.
Overall I would highly recommend these, there’s so many on the market these days, but I can see why this maker has stood out for 40+ years now. At ~$100, I would consider these a steal overall for portable & isolated sound/music listening purposes.
I was looking at these as well about a month ago! I had the same concern about fit; I did a bit more digging and the consensus seemed to be that the tip was more important for blocking out sound than the headphone itself, so I just kind of forgot and moved on haha.
Yes, that’s basically what it comes down to. Thankfully they work well for me. It seems that the idea is to insert as far as you can for maximum sound quality/isolation, even if it seems a bit daunting to compared to other IEM’s out there. I also have an older pair of Shure SE215s that are totally different, but that I didn’t always fully insert just so I could hear a little bit of outside noise, but if I wanted full bass & isolation, I’d insert them fully. Thankfully the ER’s also come with multiple tips/inserts to make it easier to adjust if needed, it took me a couple days to get used to overall.
Not exactly a purchase, unless you count the course, but took a glass blowing class for my wife’s bday, and we each made some cool stuff! Here’s my drinking glass, paperweight, and float. Glass blowing is super cool and super hard.
Always wanted to but never have, they look great!
You should try it! It was hard to find anything that really taught you though. This was 3-4 hours long, which was great. Most others I saw near us were 45-60 min which I don’t think I would give the same experience.
Beaming right now. Not a purchase myself, but one of my dearest friends gifted me a serialized Chromatic Star today. This is easily one of my favorite cards in all of Magic and makes it into nearly every EDH deck I build for pure utility and recursion. Couldn’t be happier and more grateful.
I carry a camera backpack around for Pokemon bulk, because of the customizable slots, and anytime anyone asks if I do photography it’s always so awkward, edit here’s two pictures of it,
looks like a nice camera though lol, do you do photography much? I would love to hear about how it actually works, my extent of knowledge is that there are different lenses and it takes a long time to get a good picturePhotography is both hard and super easy, depending entirely on the equipment and medium youre using lol
I like film photography personally but its quite expensive to do these days but I like the results.
Sounds either super exciting or super annoying, I have looked at some pictures of birds and some of those pictures look amazing, I’ve heard stories of people waiting for hours to get a decent picture of nature. I would never have patience for something like this, it’s the same for fishing is it fun?
On the price subject, I’ve seen those camera and lens prices.
Mmm these days most birders are using cameras that can take many pictures in a single second but waiting and getting the bird at the right angle or in a good setting is the challenge.
I mainly photgraph my dogs or whatever I want although lately I’ve been dabbling in taking pictures at dog sporting events since those require quick thinking and can get you some nice shots. I’m not that good but I also shoot film which is harder than having a digital camera lol I can’t take hundred of picture and then pick out 10, I’m taking 1 and I have to wait awhile to see if I screwed it up.
I don’t have a picture of my current set up but I use a Nikon FG that I paid $100 for and a telephoto lens that was $210. The color film I use costs around $12/roll and $15/roll to develop and scan, BW far cheaper so I use that more often than not. For most film photography any camera body is fine it’s just the film and lens that matters most.
Nice. I like the dynamic shots of the dogs since I believe they are a lot harder to do with film. Good showcase and thanks for sharing.
Cheers!
Thanks! Yes the dogs in motion are quite hard to do, it was pretty much a trial by fire and I learned I needed to track the dogs rather than hope that the film was sensitive enough and the shutter quick enough. These dogs can run 30-35mph so they also need to be some distance back from me as it’s too hard to track them when they’re close.
This photo is me NOT tracking the dog, the ones from the post is me tracking the dogs.
Here you can see I’m tracking one dog
And this dog is just too close (and too fast) for me to track
Thanks for sharing the process, it shows the difficulty and also skills needed. Sorry one more noob question, are the pictures processed as black and white or are they simply under exposed due to the faster shutter speed.
Edit: After typing the question I realize that the shutter speed would be constant because it is film yes?
Cheers!
Bunch of cards delivered for a new EDH deck today with Massacre Girl at the helm. Awesome coincidence that the Fear of Fear album from Spiritbox also came in today too.
I used a BW film stock. Film comes in color or BW, the difference is the chemicals used to make the film and the chemicals to develop the film. BW film is far more cheaper to purchase and develop so its a good film to use for practice. As for the shutter speed, you can set the shutter speed to what you want or the camera (yes even the mechanical cameras!) can set the shutter speed based on an input.
