Picked this up today- a 2003 Mercedes S55 AMG. It’s got all the luxuries 2003 could muster paired with a 5 1/2 liter supercharged V8 that makes right around 500HP. Not terribly fast by today’s standards but it certainly ain’t slow.
Ok, let me try to tie it to Pokémon in a hamfisted manner.
Here’s the thing about this particular S55- that color is an uncommon color Mercedes offered for a few years called Wedgewood Blue Metallic. It’s hard to find solid numbers, but probably less than 10,000 S55s were made over their 6 year production run.
I cannot find any evidence that another WWB S55 exists. Most of them are silver or black and most of the rest are gray or white. Surely there are at least a couple more in WWB but it cannot be many. Every picture I have found of a WWB S55 has been this car.
This book is the 1st ed base zard of manga collecting in my opinion. It is also one of the four major Shonen Jump series that is plagued with fakes. Happy I was able to snag a relatively clean copy!
Beautiful colour - here’s a boring fact for you. “Wedgwood Blue” refers to the blue colour found in a type of world-renowned pottery called Jasperware, which was the iconic creation of Josiah Wedgwood, who founded Wedgwood pottery in my hometown of Stoke-on-Trent in Staffordshire. Stoke, as well as a number of other towns, are collectively referred to as “The Potteries”, as this area was a global hub of pottery production and innovation. yawn. If you have any older relatives, especially grandparents, chances are they may have some Jasperware in their house!
Cool! Funnily enough, while searching for “Wedgewood blue” I found some of this info- seems it’s still more prominent as a pottery thing than a car color.
Also, a lot of the WWB Mercedes I have found refereces to are in the UK. I guess it’d make sense for the color to have a higher take rate there.
The color shifts in different light, sometimes dramatically. I guess it might look like the pottery sometimes but other times not
Uncle Jesse on youtube is a great resource for print settings and their effects they have on 3d prints. There are also a million 3D printing basics videos as you can imagine by other creators as well.
I work doing remodeling and this is the frist time ive gotten a new tool this expensive. You can see the old saw in the background I’ve had for 8+ years
Oh my goddd yes I love Rick, picked up some Geo’s on the far left quite recently myself. Ignore my dusty shelf I’m in the middle of packing up the house so haven’t focused much on cleaning until it’s all done
Geobaskets are classic, congrats. I have also sock ramones (beaten to death for 6 years straight), geothrashers and zebra converses collab. I want to add mastodon sneakers and adidas runner socks to my collection one day.
