What’s your favorite Non-Holo 1st ed. Base card?

I haven’t seen them being mentioned yet, so:
Tangela and Kadabra!

As the only card I remember from my first pack, Metapod takes it for me.

For me, I’d have to say Ponyta. That was my very first pokemon card ever so it has a special place in my heart. After that, definitely dragonair.

Agreed. This was also my first rare card I ever had from a Base pack.

Ivysaur and Pidgeotto are a couple of my favorites

Of the *extremely few* cards I have, probably Ponyta.

Otherwise, Dragonair

Here’s a thought, since we’ve all come up with similar suggestions of Dragonair. What holo do you reckon would take its place ? I’d say poliwrath personally

Electrode it has that 90s feeling.

Its honestly difficult for me to find a 1st Ed base card I dislike. Dragonair is a showstopper. Every card has an identity imo.
Electrode was the first rare I remember pulling as a kid. While I’m nostalgic for that og handrawn art, I also love that 90s cgi:

Without a doubt Clefairy. Poliwrath is super nostalgic to me personally cause I actually had a million of them.

Either Staryu or Machop.

When I look at those cards, I can feel the exact same thoughts I had as a kid. I experience the wonder I had when I first looked at them and was learning the 150 Pokémon.

Red Cheeks Pikachu at the moment is one of my favorites. I’m also a sucker for Magikarp.

I love the way Magikarp looks in 1st edition and shadowless, definitely my favorite. I also love Squirtle, dragonair, and onyx

Starmie

It’s one of my favorite Pokemon to this day, and I loved using it in the Gen I games with the Death Star setup of Surf/Psychic/Ice Beam/Thunderbolt (or swapping one out for Recover). I also loved the Kinebuchi 3D art as a kid, and it was an easy card to obtain, being for some reason a common.

I really like a number of the Trainer cards as well, such as Super Energy Removal, Devolution Spray, and Computer Search.
