I remember the day I pulled this card from a jungle 1st edition booster pack, I was sitting on my bed back in the late 1999 opening a huge bunch of Jungle 1st edition boosters . My husband had just managed to wipe out a walmarts entire wall of pegged blisters into a shopping cart. He was dumping the bags onto the bed and telling me how he felt guilty about taking them all but 1, and how the cashier looked at him with disbelief as he was checking out at the til. We were about half way through opening them when I opened a pack and low and behold there was this black star on my pikachu card, i thought how weird was this surely it was a mistake. I put it into my binder where it has resided to this day (today) when I scanned the card for this post. Never had another experience like that since. What is your biggest “unexpected surprise” when opening a booster pack?
When I was active in the TCG I won a few packs of B&W at a small tourney at my LCS. Pulled this on the last pack. I didn’t really know that secret rates were a thing at the time
Extra ink Fossil pulls like the Raichu on the right are always a treat.
Biggest surprise is probably this Typhlosion. You don’t expect perfection when you open Neo Genesis, least of all this card. So to pull such an exemplar was thrilling, even back in 2011 when this card was worth a Double Whopper. No factory wear, no black dots, no red dots and as good left-to-right centering as you will ever see on these.

i am envious, mine were stolen. Opened by me and stored in my binder never removed until 2016 when evil decided I needed to be hit.
