What does PSA do with the Card Savers?

What does PSA do with the Card Savers after the cards have been removed and graded? Can you request to have your Card Savers sent back to you?

I don’t know what they do with them, but yes you can request they return them to you.

Thank you, that’s good to know. I’ll try requesting them back in the notes of my next submission.

Have you gotten it back recently?

I’ve asked for them back my last couple subs and nothing

Yes, but I don’t always ask for them back. I just leave a note in the note section. Usually after two subs, I replace them as they come back with stickers and I cover over the stickers with my own, so they can get pretty thick.

They melt them down into PSA cases of course :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Do you think they sell the used ones lol?

They might recycle them.

I wouldnt be suprised if they are resold.

Whenever im using card savers i notice some are more flexible and loose than others.

They “save” them hahah.

Do they still provide free card savers when you sign up for a membership? I was given 15 free savers for the 15 free submissions I received last year when I signed up for my membership. I always figured this was what they did.

From what I have been hearing PSA seems to cut the cards out of the card savers now.

I wouldn’t want mine back anyway, they’re covered in stickers and who knows how much germs etc.

When I submit cards to PSA, I want them looking Mint including the packaging they are in.

I heard the same thing somewhere, but since I have no experience with PSA yet and nobody here mentioned the cutting, I thought I probably misheard that.

I just doubt PSA is going to hand them out again. Every time I see the free Card Savers in YouTube videos, they look minty fresh. It would look very sloppy if those would be dirty, got sticker residue etc.

I have heard this too but I’m a bit skeptical. If it was true, I’d expect a thread here like “PSA CUT MY CARD!!!” at least once a week.

i assume something like this happens.

Also why would one cut a card saver? There is no holder easier to remove a card from than a card saver IMO and I am 100% certain a cardsaver that has been cut across the top with scissors would only be more difficult. (that’s the way I’m picturing it, idk how else they’d cut it). I mean they make the top offset “lip” for a reason.

I am 99% sure they would either just recycle the plastic or maybe they have deals with some big boy submitters where they ship them back to certain businesses in bulk or something. Even then I’d imagine they’d only last a few round trips then become too used to be any good.

I am sorry I should have clarified. They cut along the side of the card saver not the top. Cutting along the entire side with the top already having an opening allows them to easily remove the card. This is to prevent potential damage from the handler. While I agree its easy to take the cards out without damaging them, you have to understand PSA is doing thousands of cards a day and I am sure they have damaged tons of cards trying to take them out of the card saver over the years. Perhaps this is a way to prevent that on their end. Again, this is what I heard, I do not work at PSA.

Had a good laugh on the germs and couldn´t agree more, I received them back once and it was honestly disgusting in what condition they were in, will never let them return them again.
