This isn´t necessarily your favourite card. Just a card that frequently enters your mind.
For me I think it´s the Houndoom from Neo Revelation. I remember first seeing this card and thinking; why does this seem to be on another level. Like it´s not really a Pokémoncard, but real art.
Now fans of modern will say that every card is like that now, and thus has better art than vintage, but I disagree. It´s not just about more happening on a card that makes it memorable. It´s ´what´ is happening, and how that is portrayed. The card just makes Houndoom come alive ´without all kinds of things happening.´
Whenever I think of vintage, this usually comes in first. It isn´t that well known, and not my favourite either, but it made an impact.
I wake up in a cold sweat. It’s happened again. That dream. I can’t make sense of it… or can I? I find myself in a dark room with a shadowy figure floating across from me. I can barely breathe and my eyes are constantly tearing. There is a pungent aura in the room surrounding me. I try to run but I’m boxed in, and the room seemingly shrinks with every passing second.
Whenever I try to yell, my mouth feels dry and I’m gagged with a horrible taste from the air. Suddenly a wall pushes against my back. I frantically slide my hands across it, trying to find a hold on anything that might help me.
My hands come across what feels like a light switch. I quickly flip it on, and after a brief stutter, the room flashes with light. I turn around and see things more clearly. There is smoke surrounding the figure, but I catch glimpses through the fog. I slide against the wall some more, in hopes of finding an espace.
I come across a window and try to open it. It’s locked but the latches are no where to be found. I swing my baseball bat and break it open. Wait, I have a baseball bat? The opening suddenly vacuums the fog out of the room into a dark abyss.
The room clears within seconds and I turn around. I finally see it. Then I hear these words:
Koffffiiiiiinnnnngggggg
I wake up again in a Taco Bell with a Baja Blast, no ice, in my left hand and this card in my right hand. What does it all mean?
As new as it is, I would say this card. Once it came out I knew I had to get it, then when I finally got it I noticed myself looking at it a tonnn. The detail that went into this card is just amazing. And its a jumbo which makes it even cooler. Quickly became one of my favorite cards over all
Ranbow Zard from Burning Shadows. It was Christmas time and I was with my mother and her fiance. We were sitting around the tree and I decided to open a tin I just got from CVS. 1 burning Shadows pack, 1 zard. I will NEVER forget that moment.
Express graded and it got an 8. I will always have that card.
I think about Unikarp at least once each day. Sometimes when I am having a tough day/week/month, I like to think of myself as a lowly Magikarp on a long road toward learning Dragon Rage. Perseverance in the face of adversity and awful odds.
That’s so relatable! I think Gimli was thinking about Unikarp in this scene too.
When I have a rough day, I watch smpratte’s binder videos. I don’t know what it is but it calms me down. It reminds me of simpler times. I wish there were e-series too.
