The “E4 Cabal” stuff should’ve never left the memes thread. I’m all for a little mockery here and there and ofc I love some good fun, but at this point it’s too extended for my tastes to the point where it’s become distasteful. Logging on E4 and constantly seeing the banner/flairs reeks of elementary school bullies who don’t know when to stop harping on the same “insult”. It’s upsetting and quite frankly, disheartening. I thought we were better.

In all seriousness it was just the mods having a bit of fun for once with the constant bullying that I/E4 receives. I personally avoid all of this type of noise, and wasn’t involved with any of the cabal antics, but its just members trying to make light of a crazy situation.

I’d argue it’s rather a reaction to bullying tactics and wearing accusations as a humorous badge of honour. I actually think it’s all been done in pretty good taste, in the scheme of things

I saw it more as a way of just making light of what E4 receives. I can’t speak for Scott but I’ve seen the comments his videos get sometimes. E4 gets the brunt of it sometimes and Scott is the face of this place so it all goes to him. My two cents

Also, it’s important to remember that the thing that is being poked fun at is in no way a serious issue. Taking actual concerns about a serious subject or legitimate criticism and trivializing it by turning it into a meme is something I have a serious distaste for. But the cabal is parodying what basically amount to Pokemon Card conspiracy theories.

No offence but I think you missed the point. The cabal thing was originally an insult or characterization of us created by people who do not visit or participate here. It’s a bad faith mischaracterization of this entire community and anyone who has been active here longer than 1 week can tell you that.
It’s such a ridiculous claim to the point of it being satirical. So instead of just leaving it as a negative thing, I personally chose to lean into it and subvert it into a positive, fun experience. It is not meant to insult or bully anyone, but if anyone is actually insulted it will be the people who are not a part of this community that created this narrative in the first place. Frankly I’m not concerned about what they think about anything we do here.
While I acknowledge how you feel about this, no matter what I do there will be people who dislike the decision. So if 98 out of 100 people are enjoying the joke, I’m not sure what to tell you other then just ride it out until we collectively move on from it which will be very soon anyway.

Anybody else confused how there’s even an ounce of negativity about E4? Absolutely insane amount of knowledge, crazy friendly welcoming commuting… I just don’t get it. Got back into the hobby a couple years ago and joined not long after. Despite being new never felt un-welcomed for a second. Gotta be a lot of miserable people to not appreciate what this place is.

I’ve watched a few scenarios play out and by-and-large those who do not find the community welcoming are those who choose to interact in distasteful ways when they do interact. E4 has been absolutely great to you and I because we aren’t disrespectful or aggressively argumentative/blaming. There are ways to make good, healthy discussion without turning the community against you.
I’ve not once seen E4 push a respectful and curious member away - only those who come in swinging or trolling.

Even in the short few weeks I’ve been here, I can tell this a much more supportive community than 99% of other online communities I’ve been involved with across wide swaths of interests and niches. I cannot believe how quickly people turn on you in some places. I should believe it, but I can’t…

There was a whatsapp group I was in about submitting cards to PSA. All was fine and we got along quite ok in the beginning. Submitted a few cards and got them back. The owner was a nice chap. It was a small, warm and cosy group until… when I talked about a certain Alt Art card and as if like I just released C-virus and started a zombie infection, almost everyone in that group turned on me.
It had gotten so bad that I have no choice but to leave the group. And I never went back.

Unpopular opinion. It’s a bummer that holos mean nothing in current sets and it’s all about special arts/full arts.

Even ex holos made within a couple months of skyridge’s release are worth nothing

I was talking about the standard holos. The introduction of new rarity tiers kills the regular holos. It gets worse each gen
