i will say with your list, a lot of the ex artworks look really bad imo. only a few look nice to me. as for the EX, GX, and V, it really depends. some have nice artworks, some look bad. if we’re talking full arts, i’d probably say EX > V > GX.
LV.X are alright. a nice mixture of the gold star and ex aesthetic. primes look off to me. too soft/round… idk how to describe it, but i am not a fan personally
I prefer modern over vintage wotc. I seen someone open an expensive mystery box to me and it was all vintage and I thought if I got that I would be disappointed. I prefer the alt arts and better art work of the modern cards.

Alt arts are a breath of fresh air

They are better for me who only got Back into Pokémon cards a few years ago.I have no vintage cards and don’t plan on getting any and I grew up with the WOTC era too when it all started.
I think primes are pretty cool

Mediocre ex knock-offs, IMO. LV.Xs did a better ex impression. What I particularly dislike about the primes is how zoomed in the art is. Don’t get me wrong – they’re not bad-looking cards. They look fine. They’re just ex clones with awkward close-ups. Like, I don’t need a Pokemon staring into my soul every time I look at a card…

It really is too bad. The artwork is the “only” thing holding them back, it’s usually the opposite way for me. Lol, not even the artwork really because most of them would look great if they just zoomed them out.
SL cards take the cake for me in DPP, not necessarily all the artworks but the layout, they look so good. Not doing that style of cards as the “gold stars of DPP” and instead doing literal reverse holos feels like straight self-sabotage from Pokemon’s side.

I just like that they dont have random letters after the name of the pokemon mostly. Dont think the arts are better than ex arts

I’ll be the first to admit it’s not a strong selling point if my favorite feature is naming convention (I own 0 primes so I’m obviously not their biggest fanatic) just saying I appreciate trying to do ex style without the ex
Agreed, too bad they didn’t keep on trying post-DPP and chose instead to budget themselves into the oil-era.
If we actually got studio ghibli type cards (pikachu totoro), I’d be all over that.
There is no such thing as a ‘bad’ generation of Pokemon. Also the hate for the latest gen is unwarranted cuz everyone just likes em all like 6 months later

I agree, however I do believe there’s a valid reason as to why people could prefer one generation over another besides nostalgia. I can’t speak for everyone but prefer a coherent design style. That said, that’s not an easy task to do with more and more designs coming up and new staff members being assigned. Personally, I can’t wait to discover what generation 9 has in store for us!

I love all gens, but, it disgusts me the pseudo fans that systematically shit on the newest gen and the start praising some older gen that they shat on earlier.
Like when SWSH came out people shitted on it and started praising XY, that was previously being shat on

Everyone likes the pokemon whenever they get a valuable card

Yea i notice it every time any new Pokemon is shown/announced. Tons of hate or ‘i like it BUT’. Everything is subjective but it seems to be a habit most cannot break. People usually come around but i think that phase is not needed. Anyone stuck on gen 1, this convo aint for ya lmaoo
Lol, I have a friend that hasn’t touched Pokemon since he did so in a peripheral fashion with gen 1. Naturally, he thinks it started to go downhill with gen 2 (a gen he knows next to nothing about) and then it just got worse from there (into all the gens he truly knows nothing about.)
