What are your unpopular opinions in pokemon? [Archived]

There are only two types of Shinji Kanda full art cards

Beautiful backgrounds that highlight the Pokemon

Seizure inducing, unnecessarily complex backgrounds that distract from the Pokemon

Outside of Galarian Moltres there is no middle ground :grimacing:

I agree. Actually I think even Komiya suffers from this

I understand why people love Kanda, but this art style is a bit too much for me. Sometimes, less is more

I would say thats a unpopular opinion because is sad thats its even a thing in collecting right now.

I was one of those set collectors and its very very hard right now. Granted i only have 2 mastersets and was working on a slow slog for some vintage ones, but its becoming almost impossible. My DR and JT masterset dreams are going to very slow slogs as well.
Having sets that wont fit in binders is line i will mot cross, that should not even be a thing.

The size of sets now is nauseating and attempting to complete base through gym is going to be a long slow slog same with my dreams for species colleting vulpix/Ninetales Growlithe/Arcanine, Absol.

For me this just means all of my goals may never be completed but i won’t stop working on them.

I actually don’t hate these: if i get to pull Ninja Spinner I hope to pull the beedrill.

but also, my last Destined Rivals box had my “hit” as two of these normal EXs and i almost cried. They’re definitely not as satisfying to pull as gen 3 EX was back in its day. Likely on purpose to ensure not every “hit” is a winner and to keep people buying.

Go on, say it Mr.Garrison. Be brave. Say that the AltArt Giratina V is overrated and its too expensive for what it is.

Also the moltres in question for those curious

ALL of the alt arts presently, are overrated and too expensive for what they are.

Tho, I LOVE that Kanda moltres. how much are they… hmm

Liking because its unpopular, not because its right.

Since when does the communitee give two shits about Giratina? The “quality of the illustration” to “popularity of the pokemon”-speculative ratio formula is interesting with this one.

giratina V was highly playable. I think at the time, someone just capitalized on that and caused a price panic by buying a lot of them and led to where it led.

I’ll take it a step further. That’s not even the best Giratina art

I don’t care what the card is, if there is a sunset or a moon, I tend to like it. I realized how easy I am to please in this regard after a while from browsing cards one time.

this is the card that made me realize it. I was like, “its just a caterpie sitting there doing nothing”

“…yeah but moody moonlight.” said the other part of my brain.

So I am quite self aware of it now.

It’s not sitting there doing nothing

the moon, going through cycles and phases to it’s full state always symbolized transformation, renewal, and rebirth in human history. The caterpie, although not sophisticated enough to be meta cognicient of itself being the textbook pokemon of transformative metamorphosis, is biologically wired to be very sensitive and synchronized with the lunar satellite.

I hate the “card trick” when opening packs. I never ever saw it nor used it as a kid, and I just prefer to pen packs the old fashioned way(which is idk manically looking through the cards). Tbh I didn’t even know holos were always in the same spot as a kid.

100% against the card trick!! It’s overbearing dominance needs to stop!

This is probably unpopular in the greater Pokemon sphere, but I think you’re in good company with this opinion on E4 🫱🏻‍🫲🏼
